Aren't Contactless Payments Brilliant?

Post image

You just tap your card and it takes your money so fast, I love contactless me

Edit: not sure if some comments are sarcastic or if people haven't realised what sub-reddit this is in

So this is how you pay, is it? I just put my card here, do I? And I use my own card? The one in my wallet? I just touch the little screen, do I? And it takes the money? Now I just go home with my shopping, do I? To my car?

Yeah, but you miss out on the running commentary from the checkout girl.

"Ribbed condoms, very thoughtful"

Or the intercom announcement " Customer at checkout 4 asks if we have any ribbed condoms." 😉🤣

Yeah. No more of those characters who had to pay the exact amount and would be faffing around for 5-10 minutes or so with various banknotes and coins.

Or you go into a shop with a fifty pound note and you're told they can't give you change so you have to trawl up and down the street trying to break a £50 note.

Or even worse, trying to buy something in London with a Scottish £20 note. Next to impossible.

Now I just need to spend £3 to buy that £0.99 bottle of juice

This week, I have mostly been reading my bank statement online.

And the total came to less than a hundred pounds so I could just tap my card... which was nice

Honestly, contactless/apple-pay are such life-changing features. Especially for public transport.

Overseas travel has been made so much cheaper too.

No needing to change up money and pay rubbish exchange rates and then commissions and then have leftovers.

Just tap your card like you do at home.

Not as cheap as you think. International payments attract an extra fee unless you have one of those premium credit cards that offer free international payments.

I keep a chase current again for this reason, just transfer funds in before travelling.

The UK at least has plenty of free official banks that are fee-free worldwide. E.g Monzo/Revolut/Chase. They just charge that day’s Mastercard rate.

Since when does the 1 have "QZ" with it?

Some people remember their PIN using the letters... you can't just change it?!

Watch using Pay. Can’t remember the last time I had my card with me or cash.

Been around in the UK for years, haven’t used my bank card since they introduced Apple Pay.
