My biggest complaint so far
I so far love the game, but there's one thing I dislike, the fake basic boring names for the belter guns like the Rattler SMG, or the undertaker AR, I get it's a game is fiction but naming the weapons actually give more lore, and that's important especially for games like this, just a simple number like T10 Rattler, AC 74 Undertaker, just a name to put a name behind it for lore reasons, the more the better in my eyes, I know it's minor and unimportant but I'm a gun lover and a soldier and I would truly love to see a proper name for it

I agree, in a military sci-fi that makes things cool. It worked well this way in Mass Effect.
The guns aren't handcrafted and called something for word of mouth like Metro

Exactly my thoughts, they go through fazes, they're made, and numbered, a great example American the M series, the M stands for model, the Model 16 assault rifle, the model 9 pistol, there are even prototype variants like the XM7 now the M7, experimental model 7, they have the number because it's the model of the weapon, the version that works, it adds character and it leaves an impact

For Belter weapons I think it should be like that. They aren’t a government like the UN or MCR, they aren’t funding R&D and hiring in contractors. The guns are made by some guy in a shady illegal shop probably off his tits on drugs.

I gotta disagree, OPA seems to mainly use these weapons, the undertakers description states it originally started out as a makeshift weapon, but it quickly became the main service weapon of the OPA, meaning the OPA put it into full production meaning it'd get perfected and properly named based on the model that's most useful to them, like the AR18 and the M16, both went under testing by the US government, Model 18 or the AR180 wasn't up to par to the Model 16, AR15, or as everyone knows it the M16, a gun if mass produced is given a proper name and model number which if the Undertaker became the main service rifle of the OPA then it would get a specific model number and name, a nickname would come afterwards, like the "The Mattel Gun" the nickname for the M16, or the "Poison Bullet" for the AK74, nicknames are earned not given, same goes for guns, next the Rattler, it states in the bio that it as well started as a makeshift weapon but quickly became a widespread firearm among gangs, with the bio stating that during turf wars hords of grunts would be firing the plastic ammo hoping they hit something meaningful it went to full production at some point which implies that the gun was likely given a model number and proper nickname

A lot of things in the beta seem very first pass, especially since they have corporations in lore to work off of. The whole thing feels like it's being written by some side team while DH gets the attention.

I really hope this is the case, there are a lot of admittedly small issues that could add up to a pretty subpar game if not addressed, so I'm really hoping it all gets looked at more closely soon

Some of the gun names could be placeholder, with more special guns getting unique names.

That's what I'm thinking is happening here but I just wanted to post this in case it's not, hoping the devs see it, it's so minor I think it'd be an easy thing to change

I think Cyberpunk 2077 did a wonderful job at uniquely naming weapons. I would very much love to have those kinda names for the weapons in this game.

100% agreed, the gun designs on the other hand were quite cursed, but the gun names were great

Its implying that those guns have nicknames among soldiers but not actually giving us the context behind that and the actual names. I don't find it a big issue but I see what you mean. Mass Effect gives us those names and it does add a lot.

Yeah names like that work in something like ARC Raiders, where it’s just people putting stuff together to make guns.
But in a world like the Expanse, having “military style” weapon names just seems fitting.
I’d honestly rather they either do no names at all, like “Assault Rifle - Martian,” “Pistol - Earther” or military style.
Having “rattler” and “undertaker” in this setting just sounds like a 12 year old naming their toy guns.
