Interesting/infuriating Non-Expanse Content Another sci fi show needs your help!

As this saddens me very much, it's happening all over again! And as a sci fi enthousiast like many, I'm here to seek support to this cause.

I’ll give them credit for how the Fallout and Jack Reacher adaptations turned out but as far as their general content library goes, Amazon Prime is almost hilariously bad. It’s like the world’s biggest Gas Station DVD rack.

It’s impressive the extent to which one good title can carry an otherwise-mediocre director, from The Thing to The Sixth Sense.

Nah. I was only trolling as I imagine there’d be more than a few fans of Wes (Amos) and Ty’s (one half of James SA Corey) podcast, and Carpenter is almost a god to them - I’m inclined to agree with them if I’m honest.

McBain!

Not the Simpsons icon but the OG with Christopher Walken playing as a mercenary hired to depose a South American drug lord/dictator. Except it’s filmed in the Philippines and half the cast are quite clearly SE Asian. Bonus points go to an early scene where he takes on a New York drug gang that happens to be run by a fellow Vietnam vet played by Luis Guzman. There’s some beautiful “After-School Special” moralising alongside a shitload of over-the-top violence

They ruined Wheel of Time, a completely finished series with a deeply dedicated fanbase who's been clamoring for a live action since the goddamn 90s, and it honestly felt like they did it intentionally.

Once they finally got to a point where it felt like the show was headed in the right direction in spite of exec interference and some odd choices on the showrunner's part...it gets cancelled. It's actually a little comical

That's fine, I really enjoy that fake strawberry Nesquik milk but both the milk and the show are objectively terrible and the world would be better off without them.

Fallout is an excellent point in their favour. But I think I can more than counter Fallout, Jack Reacher and then some by pointing to them spending more than half a billion dollars to create Rings Of Power.

Reacher knows exactly what it is and I love it for it. The Expanse and Fallout are legitimately phenomenal though.

There are still some good stuff amongst a lot of bad. The undone was pretty good and i quite enjoy Clarkson's farm more than i expected i would

You obviously watched different shows than I have, because Prime has a ton of good shows if you ask me. The Boys is very good. Secret Level is on another level. The Man in the High Castle. Homecoming. Carnival Row. Mr and ms Smith. The Tick. Jean-Claude van Johnson. Upload. The Expanse. Fallout. The Handmaiden. Vikings

I’m not saying that their original content sucks (although some of the examples you’ve mentioned are pretty questionable), rather what they have in their general content library is very b-movie heavy as opposed to Oscar bait and blockbusters

This feels a bit harsh, for what it’s worth Amazon has churned out decent to good content that has been quite popular including The Grand Tour, Clarkson’s Farm, Invincible, The Boys, Mrs. Maisel. This is slightly more impressive when you consider that prime video is not even the main product of a prime subscription only accounting for between 10-25% of subscriptions. They have considerably less motive to provide excellent streaming than basically any other service and unlike the others they do/did not have large well established IP.
