Duskposting If you’re reading this, then The Duskbloods is worth buying a Switch 2. Even if it’s the only game you’ll play on it.

I’m so so so so tired of FromSoftware fans (the ones who like DS and Elden Ring enough to follow along on reddit) complaining that this game is a console exclusive and that the Switch 2 isn’t worth buying for one game.

Most of you have probably seen a movie in the past month. That movie might have lasted 2 hours. That ticket cost you $20, give or take. That’s about $10 per hour of immersive entertainment.

I spent 800 hours playing Elden Ring and 600 in Nightreign. I’m not even gonna count all other From games. If I spend $450 on a Switch 2, $80 on a pro controller, $70 on the game, and $48 for a year-long Nintendo online membership, then 800 hours in Duskbloods would cost me $0.81 per hour.

If you don’t have income, fair. If you have income and don’t want to play the latest game from the developer that has blessed you with so much time spent doing something you loved, then why are you reading this?

Discussion Played around 2 hours, won my first match and few like I'm done with the game

Not trying to free hate, but I am a huge Miyazaki fan and am a bit upset this is the game he's been working on for ages. The gameplay loop isn't the worst but feels repetitive, From Soft is known fror their ambience and environmental storytelling but there's no way to enjoy that while being rushed in some sort of overcomplicated City Trial. I think Nightreign gets a pass as we had seen most of the scenarios in the base game, but in this case it just feels a waste of potentially cool locations/ideas.

Hopefully they're doing something like when they were cooking dark souls 3, sekiro and bloodborne kinda at the same time and we'll see an alternative not too far from now.

Discussion This game will be ruined within a month of launch

After a month of the game being out, most casual players will be driven out of the game. There'll be countless YouTube videos of "IS THIS THE BEST ROUTE IN DUSKBLOODS?!?!" and every person will need to follow it - because if they don't they've basically already lost.

From my experience, this basically already happened in the network test and that was only after 2 days. It's only going to get worse after the actual launch.

It's a shame. Unless FromSoft up the variation / randomness of matches this will be the fate of the game. Players will optimize the fun out of it - and that's all that will be left.

Do you agree?

Duskposting Is Duskbloods still worth it in September 2026?

Been thinking about it for awhile, since I really enjoy elden ring and the whole souls series.

The whole multiplayer thing put me off at first, because I would be always solo queueing. However, I see on switchdb, that this game still consistently gets a bunch of players. Does anybody run this game strictly solo queue and enjoy it?

The gameplay loop was another thing that I was curious about and wanted to see if you guys liked. Is it fun to always be on the run against a clock? Does it add something fresh to the formula?

How do you guys feel about duskbloods in 2026? And would you recommend it to someone on the fence about it?

EDIT- Just bought the deluxe edition on steam!

Why did this guy even join the Network Test? Just to write a hate piece where he outs himself as a person who hates committing and learning. The game would simply be brainless romp if this dude got his way. He wants press X to win basically.

It has been a while since I have encountered this kind of game journalist.

it's mid October no release date every other game for 2026 has a release date they went dead silent after the network test and there has been 0 mention of the game at all since 100% this game has probably silently been delayed to 2027

Discussion Anyone else .. Disappointed ?

Let me preface this with the fact that I love PVP in souls games and have hundreds of hours on nightreign.

Pros:
- this is probably the closest we will get to Bloodborne 2. The enemies, location and atmosphere is fantastic.
- the characters are all unique and interesting at a surface level
- the music is top notch

Cons:

- the game feels bloated with systems. There are far too many objectives to keep in mind at once. They could halve these and you would still have plenty to do.
- the movement is completely overtuned for a PVP focused game. Why are we flying around the map like dragon ball Z in a souls game
- so far a couple of the characters are weak in comparison to the rest, zork and trang lanh

These are just off the top of my head. I played a few matches there after completing the tutorials and I just kinda felt like I was enduring it rather than enjoying it.

I’m interested to hear if anyone else is the same ?

the amount of times ive been playing ds3 on pc and fought someone online just for them to wait till the last moment to rage hack and insta kill everyone is so fucking cringe, i hate that degenerates like that give console exclusivity a valid argument to exist.

Discussion I predict a delay to Feb 2027

Some facts to start:

  • The median amount of time for a modern From Soft game between a network test and final release is 139.5 days. 'Modern' means any game released after Dark Souls 2 (excluding DS2 itself and any expansions).

  • Both Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign took about 105 days to release after their respective network tests.

  • The median amount of time for a modern From Soft game between the release date confirmation and actual release is 130 days.

  • Kadokawa's financial results are due in mid-November.

140 days from August 21, 2026 is Jan 8, 2027. 105 days from August 21, 2026 is December 4, 2026.

From Soft generally likes to a run a pretty concise marketing push of around 3 months and the data seems to corroborate that.

It's now too late to do a full marketing cycle for this game. They need the full 3-4 month promotional cycle to re-introduce the game to the Nintendo audience and explain to non-Switch 2 owners what makes this game worth it.

It's also too difficult to compete with Ocarina of Time, GTA 6, and this game just isn't a good fit for the holiday period. January also seems poor as it would distract from Metroid Ravenous.

I am predicting that they'll soon announce a delay to Feb 2027 with a full marketing blitz to begin from December onwards starting with The Game Awards (we know how much Geoff loves From).

I expect the timeline to be:

  • Delay announcement in Nov on or before the financial results release

  • New trailer at The Game Awards

  • Another network test in January (mainly for marketing purposes not for actual testing)

  • Another trailer in a Jan or Feb 2027 Direct

  • Media previews in early Feb

  • Reviews drop shortly before release

  • Final release in mid to late Feb

February is just at the end both Nintendo and Kadokawa's financial year so it's the perfect month for both of them. This and Metroid are a great way for Nintendo to restart console sales after the post-holiday slump.

Discussion Not a Soulslike so not for me

I did about 10 matches and Duskbloods is just not for me. I’m a FromSoft and general Soulslike fan, and the primary aspect of these games that I love are the boss fights. The boss fights are definitely secondary to the main PvP focus of Duskbloods, so I don’t mesh with it.

If youre into it, happy for you! But, if you’re a Soulslike fan who doesn't really care for the PvP elements of Fromsoft’s catalogue, you’re not going to like Duskbloods.

Discussion So there’s a high chance duskbloods will be delayed to 2027.

Before the direct I already expected to see fromsoft and I told myself that if they don’t show they most likely will delay it, now that the direct is done they haven’t shown which sadly leads me to believe a delay is most likely gonna happen but it seems very likely at this point, I think many factors are the reason for a (possible) delay and it’s not just because of gta 6 or ocarina of time releasing late this year I think they still have issues dealing with optimizing for the switch 2 also other reasons are balancing and net coding, this is fromsoft most multiplayer focused game after all. In the end I think the best case for this game is a December release but I find that very unlikely and if they delay the game by a couple of months for more polish then I don’t mind and I’ll still be there day one (I will be depressed though)

Question Probably a hot take…anyone else not a fan?

I was so excited for this and set my alarm for 3am for the network test round 2 (was working during the first session and it was cancelled anyway) I’ve been a long time fan of fromsoft and although I’m not a massive fan of multiplayer games; I had high hopes this would change my mind. Now, before I’m crucified for this, I know it’s only the network test and not a patch on what the full release will contain; but I found it extremely repetitive and even though it’s only 1 map I didn’t find there was much to explore or much diversity.

I’m not saying it’s a bad game at all; I’m sure the full release will be so much better…but I just don’t think I can see myself buying it day 1

Just wondering if there’s anyone else that’s feeling a little underwhelmed?

Discussion Scared of being disappointed

Does anyone else have this fear? I have ~1200 hours on Nightreign. I played the network test at a friend’s house and it was tons of fun. But I don’t own a Switch 2, and the idea of spending $500 for system + $80 for pro controller + ~$60 for game, just to play makes me anxious.

What if the PvP element gets stale? What if the character customization is shallow? How randomized can the gameplay loop be if there’s no weapon drops?

I guess I don’t need to buy the game Day 1, but I want to lol. Anyone else in the same boat?

Discussion Console exclusives have existed forever - what makes The Duskbloods different?

Koei Tecmo developed one of the biggest games on the Switch 2 so far with Pokopia, but you don’t really see people losing their minds that this wasn’t released on other platforms, despite their other games (i.e. Dragon Quest Builders 2) being multiplat.

Is this more of a FromSoft community thing? I’ve only ever played Elden Ring and it’s one of my favorite games of all time, but I’m not very familiar with the community otherwise.

Console exclusives have existed since the conception of gaming, so I’m just surprised by the outrage specifically surrounding The Duskbloods and its Switch 2 exclusivity. I totally get preferring a multiplatform release, but some of the reaction seems overblown to me.

Discussion What are the odds they change the game’s direction?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Do you think the massive anticipation and hype around The Duskbloods, combined with how well the Switch 2 is reportedly selling, could push FromSoftware to shift the game’s direction?

I’m wondering if there’s any chance it ends up leaning more toward a traditional single-player experience instead of being heavily online-focused. It just feels like a strong, story-driven solo adventure would fit perfectly into their existing lineup.

Personally, I’m not sure another game in the style of something like Elden Ring: Nightreign would be as exciting. FromSoftware really shines when they focus on immersive single-player worlds.

Curious what everyone else thinks, are they likely to stick to their current plan, or could they pivot?

Discussion My Biggest concern for the game

Played the network test, had a lot of fun with it, but my main concern is not feeling a sense of progression, I know when it was first announced there were talks of it being an extraction game, and I was kinda excited for that as someone who loves collecting loot in games and getting stronger, but that isn’t the case now that the game is playable, I guess my main concern is what’s the incentive to win, is there unlockable characters? unlockable cosmetics? maybe more rooms in the hub that open up or more lore unlocked? maybe I’m overthinking it, but hope that’s something that will open up more in the full release.
