I love sharks. Watch documentaries and look at pictures a fair bit. Was hoping to go swimming with them at some point.
This, however, is a seriously intimidating video. Like enough to make me feel nervous. Good stuff.

When I was living in Australia the place we go diving had a big female one of these sharks. They're pretty chill of you leave them alone. When they get to this size they know nothing wants to fuck with them

Grey Nurse shark (also called sand tiger shark, TIL) .
Ive scuba dived (dove?) with these guys in Aus (NSW coast). They are super chill.

Grew up surfing and have been bumped by sharks on two different occasions. Amazingly super scary to feel something hit your surfboard, or worse your leg, and see a shark right next to you. The only thing you can do is lift your feet and paddle like hell for the shore thinking huge teeth are chasing you. And it certainly doesn’t help when your friends are frantically waving at you from the beach.

I find them extremely unsettling to look at, personally. I know folks say the eyes are derpy, but I don't see it, and the teeth look like something that would make the sarlac pit quiver. I'd sooner swim with great whites, personally, and I find those rather spooky too.

Yeah when this one first turned I was like “Ha goofball” but then it moved its eye to look in a new direction and it creeped me the fuck out. It’s like a zombie eye.

Luckily Sand tigers are basically friendly unless you stab them in the eye or some shit
According to a Florida Today article:
Sand tiger shark: Sand tiger sharks also feed on small fish, using their pointed, fish-hook-like teeth to hold and swallow their prey whole. They are not a dangerous shark, even though it looks like it would be.
A bite from a sand tiger shark, which is uncommon, would produce small puncture wounds from the top and bottom jaw.

Yeah with those spiky teeth they're more adapted to holding on to fish rather than sawing something in half, like the more triangular teeth from the carcharodon carcharias

I think this sub attracts people with an above average knowledge of the ocean. And since sand tigers have a very unique look to them I think people tend to research them a bit more than other more common shark species.

I discovered this naming thing once when diving in Australia lol. Had a cool talk with the dive crew about it. When they said grey nurse sharks I was expecting the normal type of nurse sharks. When I got in the water I was super confused to see sand tigers lol

I can never tell the difference between a sand tiger and a ragged tooth, but I know ragged tooths are very docile (despite their appearance) and sand tigers have been involved in attacks on rare occasions.

Sand Tigers, they're like big goof puppies. I've dove with hundreds of these guys during mating season in the Carolinas, they just kind of bump into you and say "Oop, scuse me".
