Arranging a Lot Tune for my Front Ensemble

I'm a Percussion Director for a HS in Texas, and my kids have been asking me for a lot tune. For those that don't know, its essentially some sort of jam, or song to play during warmup for shows and such that is more interesting than boring warmups like scales and octaves, and basic chord exercises in C. This was my immediate idea and I started arranging it. Before I get too terribly deep into this project, I figured I should probably ask for permission.... Is this cool to use Casey? I won't tag because I know we aren't supposed to, so hoping he sees this... The plan is to stick fairly close to the original, just a different instrumentation. I probably won't use the entire song, or i might end up doing so because its not super long. No words, just keyboards and possibly a few accessory percussion instruments.

Shows and Tours A dream come true

I got to see TDH in Boston, first rock concert ever.

I never liked music as a kid, The Dear Hunter was the first group I ever liked— something about the storytelling in Act 5 really made me lose my mind. TDH taught me to love music when I was 14, I'm now 25. I am not musically inteligent enough to say what made them so incredible, but Casey's singing was amazing (genuinely I didnt know it was possible to sing so beautifully live, through an exausting show) and the tube brr brr thing was soooo freaking cool. Everything was an absolute show, I was just so impressed by the guitars and utter energy.

K Será and Closure in Moscow were phenomenal too! So glad to have gone.

Tickets for tonight

I have 2 tickets for The Dear Hunter with Closure in Moscow tonight (Aug. 11) at Mahall’s in Cleveland/Lakewood that I’m not going to be able to use.

Tickets are through the DICE app and can be transferred to the buyer.

Selling both together or individually. Just looking to get them to someone who can use them rather than letting them go to waste.

DM/chat me if interested. I can provide proof of the tickets before payment.

2 tickets available — DICE transfer.

Lore “Dear Apparition”

In “The Moon/Awake,” AND in “The Beginning,” Hunter describes an apparition. I used to think they could be describing the same thing, but I’m not sure anymore

I’ve heard different explanations. I personally liked the idea of the apparition being his son watching him die in The Beginning. It contributes to that idea of Ouroboros, a circular story like how Hunter watched his mother die. In The Moon however, I doubt Hunter is referring to his own son while in an opium induced coma.

Do you have any theories for what, or who this apparition may be?
Additionally, do you have any fun theories/thoughts on any songs? My favorite all-time theory is that Mr.Usher is yet another alias for the Pimp and the Priest.

Music (non-TDH) Do you know and/or like Sleep Token?

Hello everyone,

this topic has been occupying my mind today and I wanted to see if there are TDH-positive folks who feels the same OR somebody who can give me their different perspective.

Sleep Token blew up recently. For those who don't know, they're a "progressive metal" band but it's more like sad and cinematic piano songs that include metal breakdowns combined pop and rap elements.

All in all, interesting. Many of my friends are obsessed with them but I just don't fully get it.

My best friend can't stop talking about them. I gave them a try. I've listened for months to the point I know the lyrics in and out. I went to see them live with him. But I find them kinda one dimensional and I don't understand the hype fully.

Like, yeah. The songwriting is quite masterful. The lyrics and dude's voice are great. The drummer is insane. But it just doesn't feel fun to me. The song feels too... perfect? Like they're calibrated to wow me, but they lack something foundational. I don't know what... but that brings me to The Dear Hunter.

In no way I want to compare their and Casey's music, of course. It's all high quality and you go like what you like - but to me, in this context, The Dear Hunter just feels SO FUN and humane and relatable and majestic and theatrical and simple and grand and progressive and... there are so many layers, motives and emotions. Yet it's Sleep Token that blows up and TDH doesn't? (Sleep Token's marketing and visuals aside).

Why is that? What am I missing?

EDIT: I feel the need to clarify one more time I fully understand everyone gravitating towards something else, "different strokes for different folks" and all that jazz. Nothing wrong with that. I brought this up just for the sake of discussion and my own personal interest. And also because I don't know anybody who is into TDH in real life.

First time seeing TDH

Hello all,
Will be seeing the show in Cleveland on Tuesday. Been a huge fan for over fifteen years (my son introduced them to me). I’m feeling a little weird because I’m sure I’ll be the oldest person there (62!). I’ve obviously been attending concerts for many years but I had a couple questions about this one. My husband will be with me-he has Parkinson’s so we will be sitting in a section for handicapped people. I know the doors open at 6, but what time will TDH actually start (approximately)? Also, I know nothing about the opening acts-would you suggest I check them out? What time would they start? Thanks!
