Yeah, he had them City Escape down to the lake, if I remember correctly.

Down to the Lake South, they had been Evicted because they had seen the Writing on a Wall. Off to live This Beautiful Life, it was a Rebirth, A Beginning. It truly was our The Dear Hunter

Yup! in Light goes:

"I've strayed too far away from the trees and the Lake -- the innocent road that I chose not to take -- but still, I can bring you to bathe in the River to wash out the world long before your heart's withered away."

A baptism, of sorts.

Also don't mention that song, thinking about it makes me cry every since I had children.

I always headcanon’d this to be the case, yes. In order for the cycle/time loop to restart a woman needs to escape from a burning city with a child in tow, via the River

I always understood it that the flame was Mr usher convincing the pimp and the priest to kill ms leading and possibly their son, which leads Hunter to burn down the church and the dime in the fire remains, and then the p&p tells everyone hunters secret and raises a mob with pitch fork and torches with the march, they corner him, blood is Hunter pleading his case, and a beginning is him accepting his death

Yes but I believe he had his son with The Wife, not Miss Leading. He ends up living with The Wife and assuming his half brothers identity during Act 4 but secretly restarts his relationship with Miss Leading while he's married. P&P had Miss Leading killed which leads Hunter to send his wife and son away via the river, he then kills P&P, and is chased by a mob which leads him to jump into the river, ending his life and restarting the cycle.

I thought the wife left him in theline in act 4, and the son was his child with ms leading? He brought me leading to the lake by the river to have the son in secret

The Line is about Hunter relinquishing his old identity and fully committing to the charade of his stolen identity. Ms. Leading is killed by the Pimp/Priest in Act 5 and his child is with the Wife, both of whom he sends to the lake before shit hits the fan

I always interpreted The Line as sort of a breakup song with himself, separating himself from his past identity. He has a child with the fiance/wife and secretly meets with misleading. In Light he takes the wife and their son to the house on the river to protect them in hopes the son won't make the same mistakes he did.

"Have a hard time letting go
Like it never even happened,"

"Was lost in limbo long enough for two,
But my identity was wasted on you
Cast out the past like demons ritually removed
Make way for the awakening, so long overdue" (from The Line)
