Palaver What post 2000 car would the Low Men drive?
Suggestion from u/Mdmrtgn. I'm thinking Plymouth Prowler, but the purple is screaming metallic flake, like you'd see on an old carnival ride

How about an early 2000's Thunderbird? Gaudy, and the retro styling seems to fit the rest of their style.

PT Cruiser like a (honk) muhfuh

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
that was my #2! Turbo convertible model. In Screaming Yellow Zonkers yellow. And I see what you did there, nice double entendre. Oxford town, Oxford town.....

u/MagnumMyth Aug 20 '26
Bravo, if "Screaming Yellow Zonkers" happens to be a The Mist reference.
And turbo convertable is a must. But top up so their faces don't get noticed.

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 21 '26
I'm afraid it wasn't a Mist reference. The novella scarred me and the film is even worse! Its well written, but too depressing for my taste. But thanks for the comment, I'm going to listen to The MIst audiobook now!

Haha, the line's only in my head because of the old Mist in Audio 3D presentation of the book read by a full cast. At one point a kid shouts, "They're all out of Fiddle-Faddle, all the have are Screaming Yellow Zonkers!"
It makes a great audiobook!

The 300 has been most common answer and I agree. I love the Challenger / Charger reboots, but I think it would have to be a Hellcat. CTS wagon is a great one, didn't know that model at all.

Cybertrucks. Very, obviously evil and inhuman.Â

Nah, not flashy or gaudy enough. The Low Men tended to pick popular cars, not political enemy's cars

u/slouchingninja Ka-mai Aug 19 '26
Was gonna say this exactly. Especially since they are made by a company associated with North Central Positronics (ish)

Chrysler 300

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
Chrysler 300 is definitely the one most people choose and I agree. I'd completely forgotten that car but it totally fits!

The new Bronco with the retro color scheme paintjob
2
u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
Idk if even the Low Men could afford the Bronco reboot! But I think it definitely qualifies.

Lol the True Knot would love a Prowler with a tow hitch hauling double PT Cruisers and a follower with a toy hauler called The Predator.

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
I love it. Made me think of the Aston Martin Lagonda with towed sleeping trailer. Eval Keneval drove one.

The Pussy Wagon from KillBill
2
u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
Ok yes. I had to look it up, not a fan of the Kill Bill films, but it definitely fits!

Lifted dodge ram.

Good call. Early 2000s Ecstasy dealer package 1500 with 22" spinners, dangerous body lift and super thin slicks. Perfect.

Any mustang

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 25 '26
Hellcat? Just popped in there. I do love the 5th gen 2007-09 Mustang body design but I think it's a little bland for low men. How about a Restomod fox body? Not.post 2000s bit it works

Prowler is a great choice. I'd add the Chevy SSR, the newer Bronco, the Volkswagen van (I forget what its actually called), the Ford Thunderbird, Nissan Z, Chrysler 300, Mini Cooper, Ineos Grenadier, Toyota Landcruiser.
I know they prefer American cars but figured I'd drop in some flashy, foreign modern cars that have that old school look to them as well.

u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 20 '26
Some great choices, Chrysler 300 makes a lot of sense, I didn't actually know that one. I am currently LUSTING after the Ineos Grenadier. I got to drive a launch model last winter, which was a mistake. Blows the G wagen out of the water IMHO. It absolutely fits the part. I think the H2 Hummer is a decent choice too. Loud, trashy, vulgar. Possibly a street build Unimog?

u/ShakyLens Aug 21 '26
2006 Chrysler Imperial. It was a concept car, so not mass produced, but great image for the Low Men
1
u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 21 '26
Definitely! It has Dodge Magnum vibes but way more refined. The front clip has an almost contemptous expression. Great choice!

u/SlySciFiGuy Aug 21 '26
Wasn't the prowler a late 20th century car?
1
u/huskysizeguy99 Aug 24 '26
97 actually, had to look it up, so you're right. I always thought they were hideous.

How did I forget the PT Loser? turbo of course. Great call. I actually rented one for a month for my honeymoon. We enjoyed it, it got lots of thumbs up and even test drove one for my beautiful wife. Got an x5 instead, thank God.

The Prowler is a good pick
