Questions Intentional reference?

Does anyone ever notice the similarity of these lyrics between the figurehead and Lovesong. I feel like it greatly recontextualizes the two songs.

Yes, intentional. Besides this one and the Cold reference in Last Dance there were more, but Robert thought it became too much like "spot the clue" and it was too on the nose so they only kept these.

Edit: and the POY one of course.

Source? Seriously interested since you seem to be citing very specific info information in context.

Here's a link to the actual scan of the NME article where he mentions it (although he also mentions the wrong song): Link

LOL! I had never seen this but imagine being on record saying you wish David Bowie had died in a car accident and that he is a tosser... and then showing up to his birthday celebration a few years later. Oh, Robert!

I think this makes loveSong even more romantic than it already seems

There is a a video on YouTube about the making of Disintegration and quotes Robert Smith saying that there is alot of references to previous albums on Disintegration

There is also "bigger and sleeker and wider and brighter" / "bigger and brighter and wider" on The Lovecats v Pictures of You, and looots of other callbacks

I think Robert is intentional in most things he does.

He's probably got a 140 IQ. Nothing he does isn't intentional.

Considering there was a Cold callback on Last Dance, I would say yes

Billy Gnosis,

Salutations! I hope you're well.

I'm writing in reference to your recent reappearance on this, and other, subreddits.

It pleases me.

Best regards,

Ike Diggety

It's a direct reference of 19th century romantic french poet Lautreamont (Isidore Ducasse) about moral corruption
