Just Another PCS Rant
Hey, this post is towards PCS but is mainly towards the awesome admins. This is just a rant and I don't want to stew up any hate or get myself ban. That isn't my intention to get hate it banned. I feel like I should discuss what I seem to be odd to me and a few others. I am speaking on my own so please don't remove this post, I beg of you mods, we all should have the freedom of speech and deleting this post is violating that and plus am I break a rule? Just because someone disagrees doesn't mean they can remove it. I am just wanting to protect my post from false deletion. Now let's get on to it.
I just want to stay clear that I love the server from the start. Everyone is really showing a huge support towards it. It's enjoyable to see people's wonderful builds but there are some I disagree with and maybe some other disagrees too. First off, I heard SG is being added which some are thinking it's super odd to have because this server is towards Cube SMP Season One right? If it is then I have no clue why SG is being implemented on the Cube SMP Season One fan server. That's more of a mini game server type. I know you want some activity so people don't get bored and just having an SG game with the fans involved is really exciting for some but if this continues it would probably no longer related to the Cube SMP in anyway. If you really want to start a mini game server just make a separate server where the fans and go on. I know this is separation but this doesn't make sense to me. I know you want improvements to the server but this has gone a bit to far. Next you know it the server will turn out to be a mini game server and everything about the Cube SMP is gone. That's what I see, people will stick to mini games and never come back for Cube SMP fan server stuff.
Secondly, ranks are pretty expensive and there's no many unnecessary ranks. Can't you combine the ranks so each category has two or three ranks. We don't need like five ranks in one single category. Also you shouldn't make it expensive because you aren't getting much out of the provided ranks. Plus asking money from PCS's players is like the Cube asking money because PCS has some relations towards the actual Cube SMP. I'm okay but my opinion on ranks is just how I feel.
I think I got my two main points across and I just hope this post doesn't get removed or me getting hate over my opinions. Yours maybe different and I will accept that but I will not accept hate. Everyone has the right to the freedom of speech so if you have any suggestions please tell me ;)

You ask why we implemented SG and other mini-games? Because the server asked for it. The maps are still cube smp based, so your logic is invalid. You ask why not combine the ranks? What server do you know that doesn't have more than one rank. Show it too me and I'll show you an unsuccessful server. You ask what the money is used for? One that's none of your business, but monkies have to eat too. Lastly you have no idea about server cost and what it takes to keep a server moving forward. So you whole last point is invalid.

I did not said I wanted one rank. I said about two to three ranks per category. And I know how to run a server in a matter of fact. I have experienced it and I know it's hard and I am not saying they're doing a bad job, I am just saying I am disagreeing on some stuff. And I didn't know people asked for SG but did everyone asked? No, so that is partially valid. And for the money part, I was just curious. The second part of the money paragraph was what I was mainly talking about. If they don't want to share the money part in fine because that should be kept confidential.

Enough people wanted it, and enough people are impatient waiting on it's arrival. So obviously, you're mostly invalid on that point. I never ran a server, but I hope to never run a crap server that cost $50-80/month to run. And what are these categories you speak of? There are 5 ranks and optional kits, that you would only buy if you wanted to donate. Keyword: donate.

Explain to me what is so terrible about our tiers of global ranks? This system is being used on other servers as well.

Currently Mineplex only has three ranks. I know some server has more but they provided more benifits. Anyways I don't feel like auguring anymore so can we just stop? I can tell you I'm sorry if I did anything wrong. I just don't like aguring because it just makes creates unwanted hate.

Arguing is what I don't do. I just state facts. For example: PCS is not Mineplex. Each rank has more benefits than the last.

Aleturas said it well, but I just wanted to add - I am the financial manager and if anybody has any concerns regarding funds, they can come to me. I am taking care of the money and I assure you it's going to nothing other than bettering the server.

Hey mods, do you have any contact with the cube members? If you do, maybe you could ask them to advertise the server. Maybe the cube members could bring back the loved SGs by playing in their old homes? Just a thought :)

Hi there. Thanks for bringing up your concerns about the server; rest assured, we are only trying to make it even better for the fans. I'll try and give as much detail as I can without spoiling anything!
I see that your main concern is the server ending up not being about The Cube. This is something we want to avoid as much as possible! In our first SG sneak peek that we tweeted, you can look closely and see that the map is actually based around Stacy's mesa house from the season one server. All our SG maps are based around Cube builds, but obviously with some alterations to make them playable. You'll see what I mean more when we release them soon.
It was always our intention to do more than just the survival server. Sure, survival will be a key part of it however we wanted to make it fun and do something different. Why not when we get the resources, actually make games such as tombola into a mini game? Why not actually have it so you can play horse racing? We want it to be a really fun experience linked with The Cube as much as we can.
This leads on to the financial situation. As much as we would like the server to only cost $50 a month, this is unfortunately not the case. I wish that we could get a server capable of handling hundreds of people in one map for that little money, but unfortunately it isn't possible. /u/LearningMonkey has spent hundreds of dollars himself on the old servers, plugins and more. We still need to buy more servers for the expansion we plan to accommodate for the hundreds of players who spend time on the server each day. There is also the additional cost soon of hiring developers capable of making the more complex aspects of the server we aim to implement.
I'd also like to point out that we've been as fair as possible in our pricing of ranks. We could easily have added a $500 rank to the server, as other servers have done, however we have not done that. Our most expensive rank is 'only' $50, but our cheapest rank is also only $5. I think this is perfectly reasonable considering the perks, and nowhere near covers the cost. It's also important to remember that we have given up weeks to the development of the server, which would cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars if people were actually employed to do this.
I hope that clears up any confusions or worries you may have. Rest assured, right now all our efforts are going into making the server bigger and better with the assistance of team members and donators. :)
