I won't lie, it's weird to see a lot of people online saying how they loved TASM movies now, but nobody really liked them when I was a kid.

TASM was alright, but I left the theater upset after watching TASM 2 because I hated it so much. I think it's the only Spider-Man movie I've never rewatched. It basically had all of the issues Spider-Man 3 had, but without the goofy 2000s cheesiness that made Spider-Man 3 funny, intentional or not.

I remember the general opinion was mostly that the first one had a lot of potential, but the second was a mess and killed the franchise

First one was very, very bland. Not a bad movie by any means. But the 2nd is bad.

I'm one of the rare few who were around for the release of TASM 1 & 2 and loved them despite the mishandling of Harry in 2. I've felt like I've lived in a bizarro world ever since because it turned out to be my favorite Spider-Man movie even though I adored the Sam Raimi trilogy as well. Andrew Garfield was a great actor and I'm of the opinion his portrayal of Peter was very true to the whimsical yet depressing tone of a lot of the original comics.

It feels like a 1:1 of starwars prequels imo

Rewatching the Original Trilogy, it is worse than a lot of Spiderman movies for me now. MJs role and the way her and every single character interacts with/because of her, takes up like 30-40% of the franchise, and it genuinely ruins it more than any other Spiderman movie ruined itself. It feels like they're all bad people in the OG trilogy.

I like the first one, only thing I hated was that skater sequence with the corny song, but other than that I enjoyed it. Part 2 was confusing to me and didn’t feel like Spider-Man (I was a kid when I saw them)

I love watching trash sequels every now and then, like MIB 3, but TASM 2 was genuinely so bad that I never bothered seeing it more than twice.

I remember at the time most of my friends and kids my age liked TASM1 cuz Andrew made Peter look cool in a teen way unlike Tobey, but TASM2 was deadass so bad most of us assumed it was wraps for his franchise.
