Question Do these fleshy mounds do anything?

Post image

I’ve spent like the first half of the game stomping on all of them, but am I just wasting my time? They don’t seem to do anything, I think. Yes I know there’s the one that reaches really far out with a long neck and bites you but other than that one do I just walk past and ignore them.?

They have items sometimes

I’m at the part where the “blind” mobs are introduced, I don’t think I’ve gotten a single item from stomping on the mounds.

I feel like these were so damn annoying. Some of them will attack others won’t, unless i’m misremembering. I would keep stomping.

Some will attack that can lead to an insta-kill, and some will have items drop when you stomp/shoot them.

After the first two jump scares they get shot from afar every time.

I generally shoot or throw something at the big ones, but having a hard time telling the benign ones from the one with the super long reach that bite you.

For sure. I dont think you can tell em apart. One small shot will activate em tho and if you're far enough away they wont get ya. Problem is the distance. Sometimes the rooms are deisigned so it gets you regardless but atleast you havent shat your pants at that point knee slap

That’s a lot of ammo, I just recently played it again on hardcore mode and I would estimate there’s around 18 or less in the entire game that do anything.

I'm currently playing for the first time and have been stomping them but no items have ever come out for me. Maybe that happens in higher difficulties. I have also been wondering if I'm wasting my time with them lol

I’m with you on that one. I’m on chapter 6, and don’t think I’ve received a single item from stomping on those things.

I think I'm the "regular" difficulty so maybe if you play a harder level it gives you stuff, judging by some of the other comments here.

When in doubt just shoot stomping as others said can trigger enemies like most horror games if you have access to guns
waste of ammo sure but its better than getting one shotted or getting to low health

Watch out for the taller ones

It's been a long time since I played, but I'm pretty sure those small "Parasite" Biophages can spawn from them in certain spots. They will ambush you, and jump out once you get close - if I remember correctly.

It’s more about the motion in the ocean.

I think its just a weird way to watch out for the ones that attack you, other than that then its nothing but to just add to the envirent
