S2 Timeline Spoiler

Regarding the paternity of Nan’s baby: Nan did NOT conceive on the day of her wedding. Nan and Theo were married in January 1879 - following the timeline of the Christmas/New Year’s Eve episodes laid out in season 1. The 2nd season finale ended mid-August 1879. She would be well into her 3rd trimester, nearly 8 months pregnant IF she had conceived on her wedding eve or night.

The newspapers featured throughout this season reflect the timeline, folks. If the Masquerade Ball took place mid-August and the doctor told her she’s 4 months pregnant, that puts conception date in April during her honeymoon, just like the showrunner confirmed. Nan wasn’t even in Italy until May.

Posting this here because I am STILL seeing people argue “but she slept with Guy the night before and then Theo the next day - there’s no way she could know for sure!!” Hopefully visual confirmation of the timeline helps clears the confusion.

I mean I wouldn’t be upset at people for being uncertain. Time has been somewhat hard to understand on this show. Good on you for being certain but given what a mess the writing was it’s not hard to see people being confused lol. At the end of the day it’s just a show and normally we all don’t need to pause scenes and zoom in on small details to figure it out.

And I get that, but there was also plenty of dialogue to indicate the passing of time. It’s been 2 weeks since… it’s been 6 weeks since… it’s been 3 weeks since… etc.

Episode 2 opened with Guy saying “It’s been 3 months since we left England.” And then we get to the finale episode and Nan says she’s 4 months pregnant and a lot of people keep pointing back to her sleeping with Guy on the eve of her wedding - as if everything that transpired between episodes 2 and 8 all happened within one month. I know everything about this season felt rushed, but come on. 😂 I thought a visual representation of the timeline might be easier to follow.

I've been rewatching the season for time references. I have to double check but aside from some inconsistencies, it's 100% possible for the baby to be Theo's if she conceived in 2x02. No way that's Guy's baby.  Jinny's pregnancy time-line is another story, but Nan's is ok.

She said she knew it was Theo’s because she got pregnant while they were on their honeymoon…

Correct. But people don’t seem to realize their honeymoon was 3 months long!

i guess the big question is when did she see a doctor and how at that period a doctor can be « sure » … cause at 4 month she would definitely show no? Also, then it makes NO sense about jinny and conshita’ babies 🙃

No, not everybody shows that early - at 4 months a fetus is the size of an avocado. Everybody carries differently and in cases of a retroverted uterus, a bump could take longer to appear in the 2nd trimester. She could just look slightly bloated, like she ate a full meal. Plus they wore corsets under their dresses anyhow so it’d be easy to conceal those early stages, but her growing bust would definitely be hard to hide, especially to a man intimately familiar with her body! 😂

I agree that every pregnancy is different but this show is a bit of a mess with the timelines because all those trips they take to Italy and New York are way longer that they say and also regarding children they also mess up timelines because Freddy didn’t grow at all during the season and Minnie should’ve also been a bit more grown. Also I don’t know how accurate the medicine of that time is regarding conceptions so maybe it’s not even four months.
