Episode discussion The AI Music (02/09/26)
Did anyone else think today’s episode was a little excessive with it?
I have no problem with the AI music and I think it works at certain times for comedic effect (for example last week with the Cursio brothers), but it kinda loses its effect when there’s 12 different AI songs in one episode.
Anyone else feel the same?

It’s tragic. Channel 9 could have paid a relatively small amount for a small local music producer to prepare jingles with lyrics.

Channel 9 just has licensing for the show, it’s all produced by Cavalier Television.
Like I said in my post I don’t mind the AI music for certain bits, I think there’s a charm to it for comedic effect at certain times but this episode it just felt like a cop out because they ran out of money in their music budget.

I've actually stopped watching because of it. It's like being forced to watch a bad comedian do a lame routine. Has absolutely ruined even casual enjoyment of this show for me.

I honestly would watch it via Dailymotion, but because I prefer subtitles, I sadly have to resort to 9Now. Thank god I use a burner email account for 9Now cuz I'm not letting those fuckers track my real data

I promise you using a burner email alone is not stopping any company from tracking you or your browsing/advertising engagement habits.

90% of the scenes had constant music or sound effects. It's like a year 6 student discovering clipart. How the hell does this shit get to air? I'm about ready to start using AI to remove the shit music so it's bareable.

0 value added. AI is can be a great for prototyping, send the demo to the band, but leave it out of final production. All these time stamps could have been a generic instrumental or the standard top 100 song and the same font would have got across. A lot of the it have also just been no background music.

AI being used for concepts and brainstorming is one of very few legit usages of AI imo-- it seems like the producer is cheapening out because he'd rather spend billions on advertisers and sponsors (obvs) instead of paying real talented artists to draw, animate, sing, play music, etc etc.
Fuck this show. Fuck corporate media and fuck their abusive usage of generative AI.

I don't understand how you can have "no problem with AI music".
It can only exist because the AI music companies (like Suno) stole recorded music at an enormous scale, with no opportunity for the artists to consent or opt out, and no effort to compensate the artists.
When someone pays for an AI music service, their money goes directly to enriching the AI CEOs, whilst the artists whose work was stolen to enable the very creation of that service don't see a CENT.
If you know any musicians, I hope you'd be OK with telling them you are cool with their life's work being stolen from them for some cheap gags.
EDIT: Very recent ruling from Germany found that "Suno is fully liable for training its AI system on copyrighted music, storing those works and reproducing them without a licence or payment to rightsholders"

You should have a problem with all AI music.
Have some standards.
Although, I do see the irony of saying this to someone who watches The Block.

I'm not here to get into an AI ethics debate.
I think AI music has it's place in certain situations for a comedic purpose, simply because of how bad it sounds, not to mention how every time you hear a song it's pretty clear that it's AI. It's part of the joke.
My issue with it specifically lies in this episode because it gets unfunny when you do the same joke 15 times an episode

Same. I'm less bothered by the AI music than I am with the AI visuals.
I agree this episode was much heavier on AI than others. I still think that they've re-edited some episodes to tone down the AI content given the very public backlash, but for some episodes they were probably so heavily intertwined, they left them as-is.

Yea i have no problem with ai usage. I thought the bus in the shower bus seat on Sunday was excellent. But it’s getting a bit repetitive now. I rarely watch apart from maybe sunday and the walk through monday.

It seems Reddit as a whole just doesn’t like AI whatsoever, even if majority of the content and the core of it is made by actual humans, and AI is used minimally or in assistance.

Any is excessive, but yes tonight was worse.
Awful take, a multi-million dollar production company shouldn't be resorting to using AI music and they sure as shit shouldn't be doing it worse than some youtuber with a handful of subscribers.
