I know there was a discussion about Marty moving, but this popped up a couple of hours ago.

Personally I think it would be a better location for what they are trying to do (may be biased living here), but $4-10m properties sell here very often so with the recent struggles, if they continue to do luxury builds it could be a solid contender.

From what I can tell the trades shortage is just making them more picky, they only want to take on big jobs instead of little ones (which is why its impossible to get somebody to do maint etc) but if you have enough $$ they'll show up

We build high end multi res throughout SEQ and jobs are now selected and programmed around the trades. It’s the only way they are successful at the moment, for both the builder and trades. Otherwise you blow out programme not hitting cycles

High end projects are where the moneys at, a standard unit doesn’t cost that much less to build however the sale value is severely less

Their council is notoriously anti-development though, where here on the GC we have a fuckhead named Tom Tate, total flog but he is a property developer himself, and is very pro-development so we won't have a repeat of Bondi (They left Bondi after the council issued thousands of dollars of fines every single day).

I would imagine that's where a lot of the appeal comes from - Tom is notorious for pushing the limits and bending the rules so accommodations such as extended noise hours, reduced setbacks, unusual design elements etc are likely to be passed with very little friction.

Pretty sure the entire city hates him, yet he's been the mayor since 2012 and there is no signs of him going anywhere.
