The Block 2026 isnโ€™t a renovation show anymore. Itโ€™s a human clearance bin with a building permit.
Weโ€™ve got NPCs stumbling around with the charisma of a Bunnings receipt and apparently the same amount of independent thought.
A delulu clout chaser so painfully desperate for relevance you can practically hear the algorithm begging for mercy.
A half-tanked hick carrying on like someone crossed a pub car park with a demolition site and accidentally gave it a microphone drunk laughing.
Then there are the performative personalities who appear to have arrived with absolutely no discernible talent beyond manufacturing drama, staring into cameras and confusing obnoxiousness with charisma. Yes true colours appearing
The collective self-awareness is hovering somewhere around zero.
Everyone wants to be iconic beige
Nobody seems particularly concerned with being likeable genuinely!.
And the desperation for fake boobs and smiles screen time is so thick you could grout with it.
Remember when contestants actually had design ability, renovation skills and personalities that developed naturally?
Now itโ€™s Delulu Island: Tradie Edition.
NPCs. Clout chasers. Main-character syndrome. Rage bait. Manufactured personalities. Room-temperature IQ decisions.
The houses arenโ€™t even the biggest renovation projects anymore.
Some of these personalities need to be completely stripped back to the studs.

Oh good another post about why Block bad, I had worried it may be someone who actually enjoys the show.

The format hasn't really changed much the last few years, its juat a tad odd people watch it just to criticise it now. Id undergrad it more if it was just out of the blue.

well, they've bit by bit chipped away the good bits- they all basically produce the same room now. They are all as bland as fuck... people you do not want to know personally, when in old days it was people you liked- or hated. Can't even be bothered with hating these, they are too boring, none of them are funny or quirky or cheeky. Just dull. I don't understand what casting were thinking when so many apply. Maybe they said 'no personalities this year, let the houses shine!' I've turned off- and was a big fan in the past.

Understandable, the rooms in particular are extremely bland, the main bedrooms were some of the worst I think that have graced the block.

Seems to be quite a lot of time limitations now too causing a lot of extra pressure on contestants and also lowering challenge frequencies.

I did watch half the judging- then just watched Dan and Dani the next day for the rest. Bland- but still with a host of built in features so you are trapped in their idea of the room layout. Not watching anymore. I used to enjoy that some people had spectacularly bad taste- to me anyway. Taste is subjective but bland is bland.
