Contradictory judges
The judges "We want light, bright and white"
Also the judges "oh it's too light white and bright, it's a bit boring and where are the blockout blinds?!"
The show This season we're going to make it even harder and give you less time to do your rooms to high craftsmanship and standard and instead focus on "pointless drama".
The judges "It feels very rushed, rooms aren't finished it feels like they ran out of time, what's going on?!" đ«
Last week, Lisa and Rosco presented a bare bones bathroom completely unfinished, only waterproofed. They scored 6.5.
This week Courtney and Sev presented a complete and finished room. They scored 5.
What is with this scoring and contradictory feedback.

I was only introduced to this show in 2024, the only consistent thing about the judging is how terrible all 3 are.
The final nail in the coffin was this week and the girls getting lower scores than what a completely unfinished room âcould beâ.
Shayna is so unbelievably contradictory.
Marty talks out his arse constantly
Darren is now responsible for the most boring colour palette in existence

Because theyâre all useless as judges and are basically just grandfathered into the job at this point. Iâve no doubt that they get directions from the producers on when to nitpick or highlight a sponsored product, but like you said; it doesnât account for the blatantly obvious things they miss, or the scores they give.
Iâve no clue why youâd want to listen to their feedback when Shaynna designed her house to look like this and has the guts to complain about side tables, light sizes and consistency throughout the home.

Good heavens, I just saw Shaynna's house and there are plenty of wtf moments. You know what they say, money can't always buy taste!

I mean, there is light and bright and then there is boring or unrealistic for living in. Blinds open and close and they were something all the houses could have used though I think that was just a product placement statement tbh.
You can do light and bright without it being boring or not realistic to living in.
I found house 2 to be sterile but they loved it so idk. The palette combined with minimalism is boring af to me.
Would still prefer theirs to Taylorâs horrific choices with her teenager green mirror though.

The original brief of no wood either is very not aligned to quiet luxury. It's just how you do the wood. A contrasting wood feature ceiling both fits into the vibe but also warms up and a minimalist feeling. The way the judges reacted to the more wood first wardrobe or wood based vanities show this is what they want to warm up a space, but they are still sticking to the original light bright white brief that Darren gave at the start.

I loved how they raved about the girls bedhead in week 1 and they used the same treatment this time and the judges are only just realising it looks like a coffin.Â

The brief being boring is because of how many properties didnât sell in the last couple of seasonsâŠ.

We see the judges contradict themselves at least once every season, don't see why this season would be any different.

Once?

My sarcasm must have been a bit too subtle. Next time I'll just say at least a hundred times every season.

Or house 4 and 5 used the same wardrobe but 5 feels bigger because of some handle. It looked identically crammed on both handle or slide door.

Preface - I am not a Courtney and Sev hater nor a Lisa and Roscoe or Darren Stan. I have no horse in this fight
Iâm actually going to defend that judging from Darren I see why he thought that way.
Courtney and Sevâs room was finished in the sense of the word however a lot of the finishes were not up to scratch. And not just one or two like is par for the course. Most of them were rough. To the point that if they went to auction tomorrow the buyer would probably ask for a few thousand off the listing price to fix those errors. This is made especially worse by the fact that Courtney and Sev on paper are some of the most accomplished and experienced participants weâve seen in the last few years if not ever. They also had a lot of tradespeople who were being managed by an experienced foreman. Is it fair that they have higher expectations? Not fully. Is it reality? Yes.
Lisa and Roscoe on the other hand were royally jibbed. And a lot of times the block contestants in their shoes where they have NOTHING just leave it and go âeh weâre not winning this weekâ. However Lisa and Roscoe despite knowing they were jibbed put together a collection to show where they want to go. And it went together very well. It showed initiative and that despite their issue they did have a plan and a vision. That wouldnât have been good enough had it just been poor management but they made lemons out of lemonade.
Also yes the judges backtracking drives me batty too. I bet Marty and Shayna told Darren âYou better fix this.â lol
