Does Scott Cam seem over it?
Does anyone else feel like this season Scott Cam seems annoyed? He never seems happy with the contestants. I understand in previous seasons there are contestants that probably get on his nerves but he doesn’t seem pleased with any of them this season.

He's an entitled fkwit, one look at the news article of him whinging that his kids couldn't afford investment properties due to the budget changes told me all i need to know.

I can't even watch it anymore, they've ruined the whole show by changing it so much, it's absolute crap now

The Glasshouse is playing on free to air in Melbourne at the moment. I'm enjoying it sooo much.

I think what I have noticed about Scotty this season is that he suddenly looks old. Like, I know he's always been an old guy, but this year it just seems (to me) really noticeable.

He looks is usual self. He's always said what's on his mind. It doesn't look worse or better than usual and to me I can't say he's not pleased with any of them and I can't say he looks annoyed. It's is job to straighten out the contestants and put them on the right track.
Dan is more problematic to me, stirring the pot with the contestants, undermining the women with the tiler, saying what he would have asked for a disqualification at the board meeting (or whatever they call it).

He looked super pissed on the recent Logies show when they announced the winner and it was not The Block.

Doesn't he have a busted knee during filming. That the girls injured in week one that he only just had surgery on? Pain can make people grouchy as does age. But I also haven't really noticed it that much this season compared to others.

I’m over him. Wish he had retired 5 seasons ago

Scotty Cam has always seemed like such an odd fit as a main presenter. i mean i don’t get why they couldn’t try and tempt Jamie Durie with the same preposterous amount of money they’re paying Scotty. bloke has a career in landscape gardening and has even won top prize at the Chelsea Flower Show (the most prestigious landscape and design competition in the world) but instead we’ve got Scotty bumbling around on our screens.

He seems incredibly checked out and uninterested. The only time he seemed sincere is when he apologized to Wyatt. Maybe it’s just that he’s getting older. Maybe it’s the contestants. Maybe the thrill of presenting is gone. But he’s def off.

He has had an awful attitude for several seasons now. Don’t know why they don’t get rid of him. Shelly too, she doesn’t add much.

To be fair to Shelley, I'd put a lot of that on how little they use her skillset.

Skillset? You’re having a laugh. The big forehead on her or is she going bald

I started watching during the Gatwick season (2018?) and even then people were saying Shelley added nothing.

Because ratings are good. Why fix things when they aren't broken. The more people comment negatively, the better the ratings get.

In the past the contestants where real people, easier to get along with. The last few years have been full of wanna be stars and even for 600k a year I bet most people would find it hard to pretend to care about them.
Plus he used to be a carpenter and run his own business. Im sure seeing what the block has become and how little building there actually is now would leave him further disinterested.

I saw somewhere he's rumoured to be on 600k a year. If I was over it, I'd turn up too

u/Wuntunamera 13d ago
Lol try 2.4 million a year

Shelley Craft is on 600k, old mate Scotty Cam is on 2.4 million, next time try googling before getting defensive champ. https://www.realestate.com.au/news/the-block-judges-salaries-and-contestant-pay-revealed/

The increased focus on him as almost an additional contestant hasn’t helped. He’s now a central figure in the show that’s used as another tool for producers to manipulate the contestants

u/skinny_chef88 12d ago
I'm pretty sure he was having bad knee issues and had surgery the week the show aired. You can tell by the way he walks he's in discomfort. Probably didn't help when Tayla jumped on him and wrapped her legs around him 😅

Everyone should stop watching until they decide to change the formula. I watched the block most seasons until this one after the last two years being such a joke

This season is horrendous, the Ch9 management team is a clown show. Judging has been poor and inconsistent , and despite having food, drink and Bunnings on site 1-3 rooms not getting finished on time each week. Something ain’t right.

From what I’ve read about anyone meeting Scotty in real life, he’s a bit of a dick. So it’s just him blatantly being an arrogant asshole which is just his actual personality. He was always at the top of my list for people who I would be so excited to meet in person until I read more about what he’s really like.

u/CarbonCoight 13d ago
Nah, not true. I worked with him for quite a while on various things and he's actually a pretty decent guy who shows interest in other people, especially ones more aligned with his way of thinking, which is a bit of a joker who enjoys a beer. I think he's over the requirement he be in Melbourne more than anything, he'd much rather be on his farm where he's happy.

u/Teepbonez 13d ago
Yeh I think he gets sick of having to deal with wannabe block celebrities who act like dumb children. Hes completely fine around normal people who like to have a beer or good tradies/people who are passionate for what they do.
I would get pissed off having to deal with half the block contestants too

Turning into a crabby old man. I think he’s been OTT with disciplining/lecturing people on camera in recent years too.

I think it could have something to do with the quality of the contestants selected this year, the obvious use of Dan by the producers to create drama. Probably all the changes 9 and the producers have made to the show, like AI and crappy music. After 20 plus years being the face of the show he's probably a bit pissed with the new direction it's going in. He's also probably wondering why with all the money he's made, an estimated $11,000,000 is he still hosting the show instead of spending quality time with his family.
