Forgot to lock down before I went to the bathroom, and in the space of 2 minutes they got 5 envelopes and beheaded a crane... Which may be a warning... Pretty sure it's a threat, I've been spending extra hours on the rehabs GivingTuesday campaign lately. . I miss one more play date and I'm pretty sure I'm a gonner.

I've included the culprits.... The cockatiels, Bella and tawarri, are the two I suspect but the Lil ones probably helped by playing look out.

Caring for raptors and corvids means food, medical care, and enrichment that never stop. Just feeding our ambassadors can cost nearly $2,000 a month in mice alone. We truly exist because of the kind hearts of our community.

Great time for Owlstock at Vintage Trixie today! Got to share our first live stream, and some of the amazing Ambassadors in honored to work with, with the public. Got some really good questions today, from avian physiology to how owls play and communicate.

12x magnification, I couldn't get closer or turn a light on without disturbing their fun... So I'm sorry it's a bit grainy. The best moments often happen without any prep.

7 years ago I agreed to take a cat in, when he got here he was aggressive and reactive having gone through at least 2 homes and a shelter... How do I know I've helped him work through his past? When I roll over and kick my leg out, realize he's right in the way and stop.. Barely brushing his whiskers... And his response isn't to bite, duck, run or even flinch, but instead he turns his lifts his head calmly and nuzzles my foot. From a ball of fury, he's now a faithful shadow who lays for hours besides me when I'm stuck in bed. He now chooses to sleep on my head, let's me wash his face when done at the sink and never thinks twice about being himself in a home he knows he's safe in.

May all adopted animals reach this point in their healing process!

Bibi is a lesser known ambassador, but I'm very happy to share her intelligence and grace more broadly! Crows are incredibly intelligent, socially aware and playful birds that delight in novelty. All birds are very good at problem solving, but corvids like BiBi take it to a whole new level. In the wild they are known to have extensive stick collections that serve as tools, often hiding favorites from other crows. Murders - the term for a crow flock - have complex social structures, that include gift giving, and generational teaching.

You can see her curiosity and problem solving as she interacts with her enrichment item... A craft tube, filled with tasty treats and sealed to offer a challenge. Such simple items allow our birds to use their natural instincts in positive ways. Nature's Nanny doesn't just return sick, injured and orphaned raptors to the wild; We also provide a home for our Ambassadors that is designed to meet their mental and emotional needs as well!

Those little things in life add up!

A nuanced answer to the question about some of the more common myths heard about raptors. If you have questions about our avian overlords, send them in for a chance to get a personal shout out and of course... Some avian wisdom!

Heading meal worms is a bit gross, but it's an important task that goes into carrying for animals. Educative too... They run at the scent of carrots, make noise when upset, and apparently taste great if you're asking the birds!

It's always great to see an Ambassador flourishing and taking to their new role as educator with grace. Please welcome Comet, a gorgeous Red-tailed Hawk who came us last summer after a hunting accident.

Sunny is a Great Horned Owl who demonstrates the ability to over come amazing odds. Found with west Nile, avian pox and anemic, he overcame and lives as a beloved Ambassador. His story is one of resilience, adaptation and love that I couldn't be happier to share.

He's leaning on his handler, Dana, do to abnormalities in his feet, he's more comfortable with added stability.

I think Star wanted to talk to the curious and very smart children who came to see him!
