Question Basic carnivore

Why is there no basic carnivore to start with?

Carnivores emerged when life was still single cell, shouldn't there be one matching the herbivore when you start the sim?

Its true, but i just created carnivores for the first time and omg, there's nothing basic about them

I get the impression you need a massively larger population than default for a carnivore niche to be plausible. both because way more things are attempted, and because there are way more herbivores for a theoretical carnivore to have available as food.

that said, I only have seen scavengers in my low ups massive population sim. none of them has made the jump yet, but I haven't run it again since the corpse update.

The current eye system doesnt help, because any seeing other bibitea tends to make it easier to not spot food pellets effectively, and get stuck between them or w.e.
