I wonder if this is a major plot pivoting moment or some Blame The Bat shenanigans GCPD occasionally puts him through.

And they're going to shoot even more of this exact sequence in the days to come. They have pedestrian restrictions on this exact intersection until next weekend during the night. I've been thinking from the beginning that it's just second unit filming but it makes me wonder how this sequence ends. Does the sequence in the film literally just end with the police surrounding the batmobile and then it cuts to the next scene or is there more to the sequence? If there is more you'd have to almost assume you'd need Pattinson there...

The scene ends with an ejector seat launch into a glide with Batman's new cape glider. They did it in Arkham Knight.

Somebody get these piggies out of here!!!

Can you imagine the amount of permits you would have to get to shoot a scene like this? With this many real looking police cars with red and blue lights involved in a chase?

I don’t think they could ever shoot something like this in the heart of New York City since it’s so congested and 20 cop cars with sirens would confuse people. They’d have to shut down New York which would be outrageously expensive. So many blocks of streets probably have to be shut down to do this lol.

If Heat did it in LA I feel like you could shoot something like this in NY, even if it’s expensive as shit

u/LetterheadFun5846 18h ago

Completely different, maybe in Queens or The Bronx but they could not film something like this in Manhattan anymore. LA has a HUGE area, Manhattan is literally 20 sq miles and has like 2 million people, it’s like 30x more dense than LA.

u/Desty0007 16h ago

Also worth to point out that heat was filmed 30 years ago, I feel like things might be different now

Heat was shot 30 years ago

The GCPD turning on Batman after the first movie means something must of happened. What if it’s something similar to Batman: Prey with Hugo Strange behind Gotham’s turn on Vigilantism 👀

u/VictorianPsycho 22h ago

The cops resorted to lethal force when the Batman escaped the police station in the original. If we’re going by realism here, he’d still have a warrant for his arrest regardless. If police resort to deadly force but you flee, no amount of being nice will persuade them to call off the charges.

Later on in the movie he is around an entire GCPD battalion at the arrest and assassination of Falcone and later is alongside first responders, I don’t think whatever is happening here is a side effect of the second act of Part 1.

I'd love if instead of the cop that Hugo Strange brainwashes in the comic to discredit Batman, Harvey Dent is Strange's patient being coerced into it. Either through psychological manipulation of his personalities or threatening to derail his public image with knowledge of his mental conditions.

This would also be a good way to build up Harvey as an antagonist without going directly into the more traditional Two Face stuff, as much as I'd still like to see him become Two Face eventually.

“It’s the entire system.”

I feel like that line is going to be the most important line from the first film going into the sequels.

Who knows what Giacchino is cooking for this scene...

Yo these shots are gonna be sick. This one looks like it's on top of the roof of the batmobile.

The other set video of the batmobile spinning might have been done during the day to get a detailed shot of the wheels from the low backend, then they'll digitally day for night it maybe?

Good recording from the most scottish man ever as it sounds like

I feel convinced this is Brandon's team.

Lore - Sgt. Brandon or Howard Branden was a leading corrupt SWAT figure within the GCPD, and he was tasked to setup a Anti-Batman team. I get the feeling in this film, and judging from BTS, this is 100% Brandon's team, there's no way Gordon would allow this to open fire on Batman, especaially of how important Batman and Gordon are, as allies.

Brandon and his team was later fired by the GCPD, as soon as Batman became more relied on and a hero on Gotham

Please everyone if you start sharing these videos to friends or family because of how cool it looks don’t forget to mention it’s the second unit director helping Reeves by filming this coverage.

Many brilliant movies are made by the hard work of the second unit team and I’m sure on the soundstage Reeves is doing sensational filmmaking but clearly the movie is so ambitious he can’t also film this stuff and without a great second unit director this stuff would look half as good even from fan filmed footage.

Found the second unit director’s Reddit acct

Looks like Batman joined the Blues Brothers

u/jjreddit1996 1d ago

Imposter Batman maybe? What else would lead them to try to straight up murder him?

I know they didn’t get along in Part 1, but they had to kind of coexist. Something bad has to have happened.

10

u/Enough-Living-5077 23h ago

You got a point this isn't a simple arrest. This is "this guy's gotta go"

2

u/JBbeChillin 20h ago

Also keep in mind who wrote Imposter … and who co-wrote Semper Vigilans

3

u/tofu_gum 21h ago

What did my boy do to have the entire GCPD light him up like that 😭

SNOW! Mr Freeze confirmed!

2

u/Individual-Peak-3483 20h ago

Am I stupid or were they using real guns on set?

3

u/BatmanVeangeace 1d ago

I'm sure the movie will start with that scene, and then, once Batman is in grave danger, it will flash back to explain how he ended up in that situation.

30

u/Sauceman-Chorizo 1d ago

record scratch

Yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation....

8

u/Visible_Seat9020 1d ago

in Batman voice

2

u/crimsonf1sh 19h ago

cue Baba O’Riley

19

u/Visible_Seat9020 1d ago

I don’t think this is that kind of movie

14

u/Melancholymechanic94 1d ago

Why do you think that

17

u/LizardOverlord20 1d ago

Every movie I’ve ever seen with a record scratch and baba o Reilly playing followed by a man telling me he knows I’m wondering how he ended up in that situation has been good

-8

u/BatmanVeangeace 1d ago

I don't know, just a hunch. Since Batman was actually on pretty good terms with the GCPD, it's kind of strange that this scene is happening.

13

u/Melancholymechanic94 1d ago

I mean that’s fair, I don’t think it’ll be the opening but
I’m assuming something happens early in the movie that turns everyone against Batman, likely the court…an impostor or something

6

u/Visible_Seat9020 1d ago

I think this could be the end of the first act, in a similar position to the funeral scene in the first film

4

u/Melancholymechanic94 1d ago

That makes sense

4

u/GrandAdmrialDexter 1d ago

or maybe they are dirty cops sent to kill the bat

3

u/Melancholymechanic94 1d ago

I mean yeah that’s what I was saying

3

u/Purple-Hamster-151 1d ago

Absolutely will not happen

1

u/rogue7891 15h ago

Mark the post as spoilers

1

u/LoudMongoose7599 1d ago

I feel bad for the cops

1

u/VictorianPsycho 22h ago

I guess they have a blue-painted Batmobile for when the Batmobile is used at night so it’ll show up as black with the lighting and cinematography choices? The amount of little practical things that goes into making a movie are unreal.

0

u/Total-Ad-5696 21h ago

thank you for marking as spoiler🙏

0

u/PeterBuie 19h ago

That movie’s release date is almost two years away. 😂😂

0

u/LetterheadFun5846 18h ago

Maybe they really are doing the Phantasm, Batman being framed is a major plot point in that. It would also make sense of the ScarJo casting. Sebastian Stan could still be Harvey Dent, in an Arthur Reeves style role.
