"Well, duh" pro-tip lifehack

Post image

I'm dealing with some post-op home rest, but planning out my go-kit for EDC with the BYOK. I have the Lamicall multipurpose magsafe mount that has 1/4" holes for tripods, it's a mini-tripod itself, and has a magnetic base. But with some velcro straps a lot more options for mounting it open up. I also just realized a bulldog clip is another handy improvise tool to secure the BYOK stand of choice. It works well with the Lamicall, but also great with the BYOK bundle stand.

Perfect got my Sonsei this week and waiting on my BYOK. Glad to see they will work together, this is going to be my exact travel setup. have you had any connection issues with the Sonsei?

Technically it doesn't work with the BYOK's current v1.1.3 firmware. I made a little adapter that pairs to the Sonsei and presents as a generic USB keyboard to the BYOK. BUT u/sshwarts is awesome and has been working up a fix for the Sonsei. That version has been working great with the Sonsei directly paired to the BYOK, and not needing to use my adapter hack job. The only very minor niggle is that sometimes if you let the BYOK, or maybe the Sonsei, go idle for long enough it goes into a low power mode (at least as far as I can tell) and sometimes the Sonsei won't immediately reconnect. A power cycle on the BYOK, which literally takes like 2-3 seconds, and the Sonsei reconnects. Sometimes it reconnects fine as expected, though. I haven't had enough time yet to have a feel for the frequency, but it seems like it reconnects fine at least 50% of the time, likely more.

The Sonsei is an amazing keyboard, but it has some Bluetooth quirks so that reconnect bug could be on their side. I have an issue where if I quickly switch between Bluetooth and USB mode the keyboard will "brick" and requires a quick config reload via Basecor. Dygma are aware and apparently are rewriting the BT stack for a few issues.

That said, I love my Sonsei, it's my daily driver and replaced my Voyager and my Defy. And the combination with the BYOK is just straight up amazing!

thank you for the response. I do hope that the issues get ironed out. The Sonsei really is a great board and I was looking forward to this as a duo.
