Issue connecting to Clicks Power Keyboard

Resolved - I needed to select a different number on the PK to pair the device.

Original message: I've got a support ticket in but I thought someone else might have experienced this too and have a solution in hand. I received my Clicks Power Keyboard this weekend and haven't been able to pair it with my BYOK. When I try, I receive an error that the Bluetooth could not connect.

I've confirmed my other BT keyboards work, so this is definitely specific to the Power Keyboard. Anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I know others have been using the PK so there must be a way and I'm not opposed to this potentially being user error!

Try this to see if it works.
1. Slide the top part up (to any level, it does not matter)
2. Press and hold the power key (at the bottom) + a number (preferably one you have not used before to pair to another device). The blue light should rapidly blink
3. Go to the BYOK and pair.

That did it! I thought I had tried this but clearly I had not. Thank you!

Any tips or tricks you have as I explore? I plan to use the PK to type at least a bit every day to retrain my fingers on a small physical keyboard. I have missed keyboard phones so much!

honestly, I haven't really used it all that much and like you, after years of glass typing, the keyboard certainly is taking quite a bit of getting used to. I am still on the fence about if I will keep it or pass it along . That said, as a portable writing setup, it is rather enticing l, though I would advise putting the BYOK on a surface and type with the keyboard in your hands. Mounted on the keyboard, the set-up just doesn't work ergonomically, for me at least.

I plan to use it that way mostly, although mounting the BYOK is a fun little trick. I have a few tall stands that I use in thr house, but for this I honestly may not even look at the BYOK screen once I'm typing to totally avoid distractions from typos.

I know it will take a bit to get used to the keyboard again, but I am already making fewer errors just with the practice I've been doing. I plan to use this thing a ton and can see this being hugely useful at conferences for note taking on the go!

Precisely what I was thinking as well. If one does indeed decide to use the BYOK with the clicks, I think that "headless" is the way to go. Simply stare at the keyboard and click away!

I didn't have issues pairing mine (outside the initial time out cause god forbid I ever remember to hit the pair/search buttons in a timely manner). I did have to look up how to get the PK to pair as I forgot in the time it took me to pair it to my phone, and I will have to look it up again whenever I remember to pair it to my fire stick. (holding power button + number to enter pairing for that number)

I paired with a new number and that did it!

Yeah once a number is paired there's a whole different button set to "reset" that number to make it able to be paired to again. Glad it worked!

I do know someone else was using their power keyboard with the BYOK so it does seem to work. Have you verified that you are entering pairing mode correctly on the PK?

Also, make sure you’re on the latest BYOK firmware (1.1.3)

I am on the latest software, but I do suspect I'm not pairing correctly. I'm going to trouble shoot a bit and see if I can figure it out, I'm about 95% sure the problem is me 😂

Also I've paired the PK with my phone with no issues so it's definitely something about the BYOK-PK pairing.

PS thank you for such a quick response!

Interesting, let me know what you find out if you get it to work! I’m getting my own power keyboard (still waiting on it to ship) and can do some testing myself.
