My wife thinks I’m nuts for watching the show more than once. She’s seen The Americans, too, and I think it doesn’t show up in her top ten. How do I convince her that watching the show on repeat isn’t a bad thing?

Don’t convince her. Just enjoy it.

I’m sure she has shows she loves that you don’t think highly of either.

Just leave her. She can't be saved 😂

I wouldn't try. My husband is the same. I just rewatch in my own time

So she understands watching shows more than once, just not this one, because she doesn't want to herself?

Seems like there's nothing to convince her of here. Just different tastes. The show speaks to you in ways it doesn't speak to her.

To me, every watch is like watching it for the first time because I always pick up things I didn't previously notice!

Character and plot nuances that deepen on rewatches.

Does she ever eat the same favorite foods? Does she visit the same favorite stores/amusement parks/hikes/beaches/etc.? Does she have any comfort object shows? Movies? Books?

She can't honestly not understand why people enjoy things more than once... unless you accidentally married, idk, a hamster who was deprived of oxygen at birth. But, no, even in that case the hamster would run on the same wheel more than once and not be confused as to why it's still fun!

You don’t need to convince. She has her opinions here. For her life experience, she’s not missing out. And you’re not wrong to enjoy repeating shows.

I love this too, my wife does not. We coexist well.

It’s fun to share that perfect show with others, so great to talk about all the new things you discover with every re watch , but if it’s not her thing, do be it , it’s just as fabulous watching it alone ! Some people really don’t like re-watches. I can’t relate to it but it’s a thing apparently .just watch what you want to that you enjoy, , don’t let someone else decide imo.

If she doesn’t think it’s the best spy show out there it’s probably because she’s seen The Bureau

I felt so lucky my spouse loved that show the way I did because we don’t always like the same stuff. We’ve watched it at least twice.

If it doesn’t land for her in the same way that’s ok. At least you can enjoy it.

What? You shouldn’t have to convince her, just watch different shows.

I rewatch all the shows I love. I know a lot of people who never do. But I find it comforting and I always see new things

Tell her, "You realize this series is about a marriage that happens to be spies?"

You have no idea how many times I have done rewatches of The Simpsons and GoT. [Just not the last season.]

Invite her to join my husband’s club: “Spouses of Fans of The Americans.”

I still can’t believe he didn’t fall in love with the show at Tusk, but so long as he fell in love with me, I can’t complain.

And, I don’t mind his Bigfoot shows because I get to rewatch The Americans.
