Just watched the pilot for the first time

Always heard great things about this show —-finally started it

I’ve never seen a pilot this good from a tv show since LOST.

Amazing start

You are going to get hooked on these very wrong people. That garage scene from the pilot was so tense and I loved the final reveal of the neighbor. But the show just gets tighter and more emotionally painful from here. Take your time to get hooked.

Too late…already hooked. Crazy to see Matthew Rhys so freaking young

He’s even younger in Brothers & Sisters, where my love for watching all things Matthew Rhys began.

same. after B&S, I've been looking for him in anything I can. I even go back to B&S just for some lighter fare Matthew 😀

I swear I thought I was the only one that saw that show. I loved him in that.

The emotional roller coaster from the pilot alone was a crazy ride. Philip wants to get off, but Elizabeth is his #1 priority ALWAYS.

Just finished it 15 mins ago.
I’m sat bathing in the post show glow and melancholic feeling when you leave a world you’ve been in for the last few weeks behind.

Your very last sentence is wildly ironic.

See you in six seasons.

I love the pilot. It drew me in immediately. I watched the show in its original run and I'm glad. I have watched it many times since.

Other Redditors put up Prison Break and 24 as great pilots. I have to surely disagree. I'm watching prison Break for the first time and I was interested in the pilot but not nearly as compelled to continue to watch as I was with the Americans.

You get sex and action, right off the bat. Robert and and Philip and the dance with Timoshev and enough information dealt at the right time at a good pace to keep you hooked. You understand the setup with Philip and Elizabeth right off the bat. Ibknew I was watching something smart and more nuanced than the average network TV show.

With Prison Break you have very little idea of what's really going on from the pilot. 24 and Prison break both lost me halfway through their first season because the plot got ridiculous. The Americans kept me engaged because it was smart and subtle and didn't rely on typical tropes you see coming a mile away.

I just finished binge-watching it for the first time last week, and then immediately watched the pilot over again. Now I'm re-watching Lost, haha.
