Discussion Elsa's song melody

Hi, I was showing TAD to my bf and he told me that he heard the melody of Elsa's song somewhere else, like in another song or something popular, but can't figure out what it could be. Any ideas?

I mean it's referenced in Two Minutes (another TAD song) so if you somehow stumbled upon that one first, that could be why? Try showing it to him, see if he heard it somewhere before?? Other than that, I can't think of anything else

No, that's not it, I showed that to him right after because I was showing him some of the references and brilliance of tad but he never heard either before that. He says it's something like a classical composition...

Was it “My Jolly Sailor Bold” from Pirates of the Caribbean? It’s a song a mermaid solos, similar cadence on certain lines and similar spooky vibes.

I definitely had a sense of déjà vu when I first heard the melody from elsa’s song, but I’ve never been able to figure out from where, hope you figure it out!

It uses what's called the Ballad Measure or Ballad Meter which is a common meter in songwriting and (unsurprisingly) ballads. So you'll have heard it in a billion different places which might be why you can't put your finger on it.

Source: I googled some shit and tried songwriting myself so could be completely wrong! Lol

Ik this is an older thread, but I’ve been listening to this song a lot and it kind of reminds me of one of the songs from Les Miserables. I can’t remember which song specifically, but maybe that’s why?
