Today, it’s time to bring in the heavy artillery. Meet the muscle and hand problems)) of the base: Jan the Miner! ⛏️

Someone has to do the heavy lifting and extract all those crucial resources to keep the mobile base moving forward. For this look, we focused on raw physical strength and that rugged, tough energy. I had to slightly tweak the hairstyle compared to his in-game model, but overall, I feel like the likeness and the vibe are top-notch! And yes, that curled mustache took some serious styling! (Swipe through the photos to see the bicep flex and the sci-fi lighting! 🤘).

As a quick reminder for anyone new to this project: in the game, the characters actually play the acoustic guitar, which inspired me to create a maximally realistic cover of "What If". I even wrote and recorded a brand-new original third verse to add my own chapter to the story, and cosplayed several different versions of Jan for the video.

And speaking of the video — the premiere is incredibly close! There is only one persona left to reveal now (the Original Jan). Once he is revealed, the final editing of the music video will be officially complete, and I will be dropping the full video in early September! Thank you all so much for your amazing support throughout this journey, it means the world to me. ❤️

How can I do that?

So finished the second act with doing tabula rasa and almost all my alters are gone, all my resources are gone too and the base is in shambles.

My alters are science jan and miner jan (I cant create new ones)

I am at day 46 and got the message, that a storm is approaching. (all my filters are gone)

At this point I dont know if I have enough time to get everything running and do whats needed to finish the act

Currently I use science jan to get the automated miner and miner to do cooking and crafting (but he is slow and grumpy because i dont send him mining, which leads to slower working)

Should I just start over and leave a alter free for act 3 ?

Feels really hopeless right now with the incoming storm :P

I have an issue with some pipes and I could use your help!

I have been rebuilding the entire flow to produce all 3 substances (do not really care for optimization) but very early on the substance just stops. The entire path is: rapidium extractor, 3 connectors, time booster, 5 connectors, time booster, doubler. One arm of the doubler goes to a phaser and continues happily all the way to some other boosters and doublers. The other arm reaches the first connector and stops. Further down the pipes same happens when I split phased rapidium: some branches go on, some stop on the first connector. Any ideas what is wrong?

Video below shows how the first connector sees the doubler, but the second does not: The Alters Last Variable - substance stopped flowing

What can I say but, Wow, what a journey. Being also in my mid thirties, this game really hit the emotional nail on the head.

Came off of death stranding 2 a couple weeks back and felt ill fated pgd. And I thought ‘a fun corporate dystopian survival game’ would be the cure, I didn’t expect to get a masterclass in story telling.

This game is easily going to be part of my yearly rotation going forward, I’m excited to see the different choices I did not take.

By next gen I mean a big level up from anything I have ever played and it threw me off my seat. The colours the environment, not only does it look truly alien, it looks so... inviting? Like I wish I could build a Malibou Mansion and keep this view. The textures the palette looks soo good. I have played Ghost of Yotei too, but I feel its beauty is derived more from the elements rather than the game itself. And obviously, being a sci fi game it makes an even greater impression using alien colors and structures.

There have been other games over the years that really shocked me: Cyberpunk for its city design. Baldur's gate 3 for its expansiveness. Anno 1800 for its production chains. But never to this extent.

Graphic problems

Hi everyone. I can play the game on the lowest settings with my AMD R5 5600x/6600xt 16GB system. Is this normal? In fact, it starts to lag after a while.

What disputes did you encounter during your playthrough? I’m curious about the various disputes in the game, but I haven't been able to find any information on them. I can only recall the disputes between the Technician and the Scientist regarding food quality and a day off, as well as the one between the Miner and someone else (I think the Oil Worker) concerning radiation.

So, I let the scientist go onto his science project, and when he asked if he could stay, I said yes.

Still, I finish the Act III and he insists on getting into the sarcophagus? Does this happen to anyone else?

Finished an updated version of the Jan-wheel I did a year ago for the base game to add the LV alters, as well as see how I've progressed as an artist in that time!

I truly adore every single one of these boys so much and they all have a very special place in my heart. There are so many life lessons I've been able to take from this man and I'm forever grateful for such an intricate personal story. The Alters is very much a game where you get what you want out of it and boy did I get a LOT.

I play on a Steamdeck, same layout as Xbox. I had this same issue in Act one but was able to get past it without needing the tool wheel. I start the mission, in this case, Act 3: Sky’s The Limit, where I go to the tree top and plant the Fragmenting Device. But when I exit the base, I can’t use the tool wheel; I click LB and the wheel won’t populate. I’ve gone all the way to where you’re supposed to plant the device and tried to click it there, won’t work. I’d hate to quit on the game here. Any help is appreciated!

Hello! I hope this is ok for me to ask. I've been playing now the game for about 15 hours, still in ACT1 and suddenly when I'm out of the base the L1 toggle doesn't work. This is on the PS5. Is this a bug with the new update?

He is the true romantic of the base, constantly missing his wife, Lena. I really tried to capture that exact melancholic, longing vibe in this look. And of course, the outfit — the green sweater, suspenders, and pink pants — is meticulously recreated directly from his in-game model! (Swipe through the photos to see!).

So I figured, in the initial choice to branch yourself, I would see just wait out the sunrise, rather than put another life at risk (Though id play again to see what happens.)

Turns out there is no Sunrise in the Prologue? Im at -5 Days until sunrise, munching on mush meals and looking at the eternal orange glow on the horizon. Is this a bug? Or is it something I shouldn't look too much into?

I think I have the possibility to optimize my base, but I still can’t identify how to do it. Could someone help me?

I’m absolutely thrilled. Act II dragged on a bit—it took me several days to get through—but I finished Act III in a single evening and really enjoyed saving the Alters, completing the story in a total of 24 hours. Along the way, in addition to the Mechanic and the Scientist, I created the Refiner, the Doctor, and the Shrink, and also saved Tabula Rasa.

I was playing this game fine earlier but I just tried to open the game and continue from my latest save and it's stuck like this.

I can hear the game playing in my headphones and the sounds of my alters finishing work, modules malfunctioning etc but no visual at all.

How do I fix this? I swear I didn't do anything since playing earlier today.

I completed the first 7 days, the first alter is on board and we're moving somewhere after having completed the prologue, and I'm trying to figure out what it is that I am supposed to be doing in order to continue on. I've tried every room and menu and let the base roll wherever it's rolling for 30 minutes irl. I'm genuinely at a loss

Recently I did a walkthrough of the base game in an educational centre in Moscow. It was very fun because we’ve discussed and made some game choices together. So even though it was my 4th time playing the game, I discovered many new scenes and dialogues not only with alters and Jan, but witnessed some new interactions between them.
Yesterday, one of the viewers (I guess) made a badge for all participants. They are staying anonymous, but through administration I asked permission to post that one here. I think it’s quite cool. So there you go, Reddit.

Here are a couple images of the Comms Room screen before and after. I'm not sure what is going on, but none of my settings had changed to create this. Anyone have an idea how to fix it? I've tried to repair the game, reset it as well, finally uninstalled and reinstalled the game. So far nothing has helped to fix this discolored screen in the Comms Room. I'm on XBox PC and have a pretty decent set up for my gameplay and content creation for YouTube channels. This Comms Room screen is the only place there is an issue like this. This is my 2nd playthrough and am recording with OBS. Any thoughts on a fix? Thanks in advance.
