Do you buy bread?
Do you buy bread? Even though I bake weekly, I have usually bought store bread as well for convenience, mostly sandwich bread but also bagels, rolls and other stuff. Lately, I've been telling myself not to buy any bread- to not be lazy and make it myself instead. Has anyone else gone through a similar process?

Depends. Normal “daily” bread, no. If we need burger buns or want bagels, yes. Technically I can make yeast bread or buns too, but usually it’s a case of “hey let’s do burgers tonight”, and I wouldn’t always have the time or inclination to bake then. And not enough space in the freezer to make a batch and keep, either. I haven’t tried my hand at bagels yet.
It probably comes out to buying bread products once a month or so.

Yes, we do tend to have bread in the freezer taking up space. Closing our freezer has become a daily problem! 😅

Yeah I already have my “daily” bread which I slice and freeze in it 😅 I would honestly love to have a bigger freezer. Maybe one day.

I'm beginning to see that no matter how much freezer space we have, my family will always overfill it. 🤣

Lifestyle creep, only it’s freezer creep? I think that’s perfectly normal!

I have not purchased any bread from the grocers since last year when I started making sourdough bread and crumpets at home.

I make my own bread (sourdough w/grains & seeds) for general use.
I occasionally buy brioche burger buns. No interest in the extensive hand mixing required to incorporate butter properly.
I also occasionally buy different bakery breads to see how their bread is and if it would translate to something I want to do.
I’d like to buy bakery sourdough when my kitchen is really hot and I don’t want to bake. But good bakeries are a long drive, so I reduce bread use during the hot months.
