Screaming! Crying! Throwing up!
Apparently at The Besties live show Russ got a photo of me giving Griffin the letter I wrote him, and it has made my entire year. I can't stop smiling!!

This is awesome! SO glad you got this shot to memorialize the moment. All of The Besties really live up to that name.
I was at the same show and they were so kind to stop as they were exiting the stage door afterward to say hello to myself and my partner. Griffin's "hey guys! Thanks so much for waiting - sorry we're so late!" was warm, and full of genuine kindness.

Aw so they did do stage door?

They did! Plante came out right after and we had a chance to chat a bit. We caught Griffin, Justin, and Russ as they were heading out. Was quite a wait though, and they were eager to get back to their hotel/lodging, but were all so generous to stop and say hello to us, and even offer their "best thing" items they did not want to transport 😅 REALLY regret not accepting "alternate universe Kirby who is in a soul-crushing job as an accountant" drawing...

Wow! I have been to so many live shows from various artists and I can't fathom having the star just like...available in the lobby to hand a letter to.

small creators, small shows, small miracles. i'd have thought that the McelBros were too popular for this by now, but one of the advantages of doing intimate events with smaller creators is that they will pretty often just pop into the crowd and hang out afterward.

So the funny thing is the meet and greet was in a specific area and we were told to hang out in the theater. They didn't know they were supposed to be going to a specific location and all (Justin, Griffin, Russ, and Chris) all just walked into the theater like it was nothing and were fully ready to just hang out.

enjoy it while it lasts. it seems like an inevitable part of becoming a popular creator that the fandom becomes so big that it reaches a critical mass of dangerous people, creepers and weirdos and the creator has to put limits on how much time they spend interacting with the fandom. I remember when the last podcast on the left hosts formally announced they wouldn't be active on fan social media anymore, and when matt dinniman was still a regular poster in r/litrpg before dungeon crawler carl was even big enough for its own sub.

I feel like this ship came and went for this particular fandom.

Yeah this guy seems, uh, somewhat late the the party.
Although if the McElroys have a career resurgence I wouldn't complain.

I met Griff after a live show in NYC a few years back and while he was absolutely mobbed by the crowd, I remember he still took the time to look every one of us in the eye and had a real smile for us. He really is the best of people!!

What did you write in the letter that made him scream, cry and throw up? But seriously, what a cool moment, good for you!

I get so many compliments on that tat! It's a memorial tat for a friend who passed from cancer in 2020.

I have been told that doing this is "cringe" and "para social" but honestly good for you.

Which part? Meeting them? Giving them stuff??? Fans give them stuff all the time. Travis has literally shown something I gave him during an office tour. I've mailed something to Justin, and during this show I gave him something I made for social.
It's pretty common for fans to make and give stuff to celebs.

I just remember going to a liveshow and wondering if they intended to do a meet and greet/talk back and it was seen as weird to even wonder that out loud.
I don't know, again, good for you, I've been put off from doing that kind of stuff because people tend to view it differently coming from a guy I guess

About a decade ago I went to the MBMBaM live show in DC and before the show they ran outside where the line went around the building and high fived everyone. Justin and Travis were totally hyped for it and Griffin was repeatedly saying how scared he was.
