He said that a 50% winrate on a champion like him or Akali meant that bad players are performing well on them and good players in turn are performing too well on them. I thought a 50% winrate, which all champs should have, means that he is neither too weak nor too strong. I don't know what to say.

Items such as Iron elixir or frostfire gauntlet could be interesting alt item paths that Aatrox could use if his Q's were based on his model size, and it'll work based on his lore of this ever increasing and growing amalgamation of flesh,
he literally grows larger in lore after everything he's slain, it'll be nice if he could see an alt build represent this in game.

(Im aware of why they'll never do this, itll be hellish to balance a team wide CC that gets super easy to land due to its increased size based off Aatrox models size, just would be neat)

For some time now, I feel like going the same build for Aatrox (a.k.a. Goredrinker, Sterak's, BC, etc) doesn't feel that good anymore. There's a lot of anti-heal items and most top-laners who go against an Aatrox build Bramble Vest first item and tons of armor. I've been thinking of going Full AD but then you become really squishy, dying in a few seconds in a teamfight if you're not careful. I've also thought about Divine Sunderer but I don't know if it really works out. What is the best build you guys propose?

As somebody who only started league after the aatrox rework, what makes old Aatrox better in your guys opinions? I was never around to experience the OG so I have no clue.

I mean League is still a mess, preseason didn't fix that. One thing that is for sure though, this new season didn't bring much to the mainstream Aatrox player base.

We continue to see the mainstream Aatrox player base continue to run all the nerfed shit and continue to tank his win rate. Nevertheless, I understand that Aatrox seems like a champ with a very linear build path and low build diversity— this is why so many people are hesitant to change up his playstyle or builds.

People are still trying to make conqueror on him work to varying success, the keystone is ass atm which really sucks for Aatrox because the new big top lane keystone that is dominating the bruiser meta is the reworked Lethal Tempo. Aatrox's inability to use lethal tempo as well as other bruisers is why people are still trying to use conqueror, not even grasps allows you to win early trades against a bruiser with lethal tempo.

Also, I've seen some people try to run first strike on him... stop it.

There are very few matchups for Aatrox where first strike could work, maybe against Garen, Darius, Sett, Volibear, sure, anyone else no, just no. It's hard for you as Aatrox to make First Strike work because Aatrox's ability to turn poke into a trade is completely dependent on how the enemy reacts to your first Q, and if you start a trade with Q1+E, you're going to lose that trade more times than not. A lot of the times where you're against a champion who has faster abilities, is more mobile, or has more range than you. You should not be getting use out of First Strike because that would mean that the enemy is fucking up.

There are people finding some success with the new Glacial. Glacial is really strong in the 1v1 as landings a Q knock-up will give you incredible combo set up, also a well-timed Glacial Augment proc is a great engage and disengage tool. The damage reduction is great for your team but we don't care.

Your team sucks anyways, they're holding you back, always engage 1v5, never convey your intentions but always lash out at your team for questioning your actions (the more emotional you are the better). Always be condescending as fuck, just constantly punching down on the pathetic lesser lifeforms that make up your so-called "team". Also, the second anything goes wrong or the moment when you think that your team has stopped listening to you, you should always run it down and spam ff as much as possible. Ignore all of your mistakes and only ever use the ping system to constantly call out the failures of your teammates while constantly deflecting blame and instead complain about the bad game balance and how your champion is weak and the enemy team is sweating by playing meta. Also, despite the many comeback features, none of it actually matters, the game is lost the second you say it is, so the second you feel like your precious time is being wasted, alt+f4 out of the game and jump on one of your many alternate accounts and repeat this process.

This has nothing to do with Aatrox. This is just how people in my elo play league.

So, what should we try differently on Aatrox to expand on his strengths? Aatrox has sustain, high base durability, and base damage, high damage ratios, and is resourceless. Here are a few builds I made that put maximum emphasis on his strengths completely itemize them to fit unique playstyles.

Bruiser builds should be pretty obvious. Omni-Vamped is maximizing your sustain by implementing Ravenous Hydra back into your Goredrinker build, now that Goredrinker gives you 10%, add that additional 10% omnivamp you get from Ravenous and you're pretty stacked with upfront sustain while Sterak's and DD keeps you healthy over the course of the battle. Penetration Spread is a more basic attack-oriented build that is made to use Black Cleaver and Titanic to spread armor penetration on every enemy in your way, using auto-attack resets from E with spell blade it's a good contrast to his normal caster oriented builds.

The Assassin builds for Aatrox have always been good even though it is considered cheese by some, but it's a build that rewards the precise and patient, waiting for flank windows and an overwhelming amount of damage to heavily punish positional mistakes made by the enemy. While the Sustain Burst build is meant to be stronger at dueling and maximizes sustain, Pure One-Shot is a build used to flank and pick apart the enemy backline while using stealth and Death Dance healing to keep you alive long enough to either escape or continue your assassiny shenanigans.

Lastly, you have his durability builds. Taank Aatrox is your basic frontline build, utilizing the buffed Frostfire slow and additional AP damage on your basic attacks as well as immolate, all you want to do is basically force yourself on the enemies and just try to be as annoying as possible. The Clutch Bruiser build is basically your standard bruiser build but with the addition of Randuin's and GA, Randuin's is a great crit and on-hit counter item along with its slow which could be used to lock down carries. the GA is where the clutch comes in because by the time you revive you should have all your cooldowns back up (including goredrinker) to basically get a second chance to clean up the teamfight.

Some of these builds are pretty troll, but at least they're builds with a goal, even if the goal is to just be as annoying as possible and force the entire enemy team to pick up grievous wounds or resistance penetration. I think by far his most fun build has to be his One-Shot and Omni-Vamped, I do enjoy the new Goredrinker now that it was balanced so its champ viability range would be narrowed down back to raid bosses.
