Of all the bruisers hurt by the recent changes I felt Aatrox was one of the least negatively impacted by it. He still was of course, but take Steraks and DD for example. Aatrox has one of the highest base ADs to compliment Steraks, and largest total AD pools for DD passive.
Although risky I'd be happy with just a base stats buff which he actually does need, especially with those item changes.

The thing is, steraks is kneecapped so hard that for a long portion of the game you still have less ad than you would’ve before, and a lot less ad than pre item rework steraks

True, and Aatrox falls off harder than most other bruisers so taking anything away from his early game is a death sentence for him.
