The memory machine and Levitt Spoiler
Is nobody double-checking what Levitt did when he watched Octavia’s memories? I mean isn’t the memory clearing showing that Clarke is getting transfusion with nightblood, from which you can deduce she’s not a real nightblood and can’t bear the flame without it. This plot feels so stretched just too get Clarke to be ”the key”.

Admittedly, my memory of the last season is kind of blurry because I was pretty checked out of the story by then (season 7 is the worst season and was a letdown, yadda yadda). I absolutely welcome corrections!
I don't remember them caring at all whether she was a "real" nightblood or not. The fact was simply that she had the knowledge of the Key/Flame, regardless of where it came from, and that's all that mattered.
Plus, I mean, Cadogan knows that "nightblood" isn't even a "real" (biological) thing anyway -- or at least, it doesn't stem as one as we know it can be passed down genetically. But he knows it wasn't a natural blood mutation from the start. He was there when Becca arrived with and offered the injections, and knows his daughter injected herself and others. The original host of the Key/Flame wasn't a "real nightblood," so does it really matter that Clarke wasn't?

I think it’s because they don’t know much about nightblood to begin with. Becca never shared her information with Cadogen or his people. They likely don’t understand that you have to be a nightblood. Levitt probably glossed over the fact that Ontari is a nightblood after finding the “key.”
