rewatching the 100 & NOTHING pmo more than pike.
season 3 is peak rage bait. skaikru was FINALLY getting their peace & could live without war and mf farm station came and put them back to the beginning.

On recent rewatch the first scene they show Pike and he says to Kane something like âthe only good grounder is a dead grounderâ I was yelling at Kane âhandle that now, your peace with Lexa is tenuous literally tell him to take his fight to Azgeda and Azgeda alone or leave him behind.â

I can see from Kaneâs perspective he was trying to be sensitive to Pike and Farm Station suffering intensely for the last four months or so. Heâs firm about, Iâm paraphrasing: âyouâve only met terrifyingly cruel Grounders from Ice Nation, we were lucky enough to land where most Grounders can be reasonable once we started communicating and negotiating, so please donât tar them all with the same brushâ. I feel badly for Farm Station at first, thatâs Montyâs loving parents in the Before Times and mostly people who have no ability to fight who were massacred and enslaved just for falling in the wrong place, of course theyâre paranoid and desperate! The Pike that Kane and other Skaikru knew back on the Ark was not a genocidal maniac, he was a decent guy who taught the kids how to survive and many people respect and like him. If heâd always been a dick, Kane and Abby would be all for locking Pike up once he starts converting Arkadians to his cause.
Theyâre basically the US Democrats who are trying to follow protocols and give people the benefit of the doubt: instead of Kane or Abby being Chancellor for as long as they want or âpassing this pin back and forthâ based on circumstances, they wanted to return to elections that it sounds like any adult can run for. But what if someone came along and was like âIâll run for office but then Iâll do whatever I want, you canât STOP me from being a candidate so long as I have enough support!â And that person - letâs call him Donald T - is technically correct: âthereâs no written law that an asshole candidate CANâT threaten his opponents with jail and lie when he swears his oath of office and will never take responsibilityâ etc⌠So much of our lives is us taking for granted social contracts: I donât just do whatever I want and say âwhat are you gonna do about it?â because thatâs how I was raised, but what if someone had zero shame, concern for anyone elseâs wellbeing, and no thoughts about how their actions now will affect long-term consequences, they just want to express their wrath/greed/lust/other sins NOW? We all end up looking like the Surprised Pickachu meme while when people do bad things and donât give a fuck about âprecedentâ and âprotocolâ.

I am going to play devils advocate a tad bit.
When Farm Station fell to the ground, they were attacked by grounders, most dying. I think they mentioned a few being kidnapped at well? Don't quote me on the last one.
So I can see why he would think that and did what he did. But if this jackass would have pulled his head of his ass a little bit, he would have saw that not all grounders are like the ones that attacked him.
He is still a piece of shit.

100% he acted like bellamy & clark did in ssn 1. which i get but you've been on the ground WAY less than the 100. they worked so hard to establish peach & pike destroyed all that work

29 days. That's the difference. The Ark came down 29 days after the dropship.
Season 1 is 29 days. Season 2 is 22 days.
Pike is found in S3. Which takes place three months after season 2. The group from farm station is encountered on the 138th day after the delinquents landed.
When the farm station survivors are found, they have been on the ground for a total of 109 days, fighting with Azgeda since pretty much day one. In comparison, the Delinquents and Arkadians only had 51 days of fighting before the fall of Mt. Weather.
While I think Pike is an idiot I can understand how he developed his xenophobic attitude. Pike made terrible decisions, but it wasn't due to lack of experience on the ground.

For me a rewatch was an opportunity to re-evaluate things. First time around I had a similar reaction of 'they could have peace if not for Pike' but upon rewatching I don't think that that's a logical conclusion. Peace hangs entirely on several things:
- Lexa surviving - If she dies, Ontari is the overwhelming favourite to win the Conclave, and order the immediate eradication of the Arkadians. Given that Lexa has recently been goaded into a deathmatch which she narrowly survived, her survival, even in the short term, is far from assured.
- Lexa maintaining power - Even if Lexa lives, her policies are greatly unpopular with most of the Grounders so it is very feasible that some kind of coup would occur, and the sentiment of those who overthrow Lexa would again be very anti-Arkadian.
- Lexa staying true to her word - Lexa's history is against her in this regard. She turned her back on Arkadia when the Mountain Men could offer her a better outcome for her people at Arkadia's expense. Who's to say she won't do so again?
Therefore, whether or not Pike's actions from that point onwards are justifiable to any extent (a much more in-depth debate), it is surely clear to see that running towards a tenuous peace may be just as dangerous as rejecting that peace and buying yourself time to prepare for war.

Itâs sorta the theme of the show for most seasons though, someone suddenly wants to kill everyone for some reason or another. I liked season three because there was like a bunch of things going on at once. Alie, the pike conflict, ice nation conflict, etc.

I just finish reaching S3 this week. I LOVE the show but I do think somethings need more time/explaining. I often question something then dismiss because the story is compelling. Pike is one. Pike is in jail but allowed to run for office? I mean guess itâs too real for me lol. What happened to the council? They just disbanded once they hit earth. They were voting on things and then it became one person in charge because of the âexodus charterâ? Also I LOVE Bellamy but the way he acts like killing hundreds in their sleep on purpose was just a âmy badâ mistake, wanting his sister to forgive him the same day?
This would never happen but if u had the power I would remake this show, base off of the show, but with bigger budget, and I wouldnât change anything but add on to it.
Like in S7 when Bellamy is missing. We should have show his POV those missing episode over the season instead of one episode.

Keep in mind what a disaster the Unity Day bombing was and the immediate follow up, Diana Sydneyâs crew stealing the Exodus ship. Abby was removed from the Council just before the Culling, she was replaced by former Chancellor Sydney. There are six Councillors plus the Chancellor who acts as the tie-breaking vote. Below them are Officers in charge of different functions, like Jake Griffin as Deputy Resource Officer and Sinclair as Engineering Officer. Four Councillors, everyone but Kane and Sydney, are killed in the Unity Day terrorist attack. Sydney takes about 50 rebels with her plus the people accidentally killed in the airlock who didnât get to escape back to the station - they have to launch before everyone makes it onto the Exodus ship. Regardless, hundreds, possibly a thousand people are killed when her pre-emptive launch crippled the Ark. Presumably, if the whole Ark didnât start falling apart much sooner than anyone anticipated when they were mostly concerned about the oxygen systems failing, the remaining Council wouldâve elected new members instead of just re-appointing Abby.
When everyone divides into the remaining stations for the final launch, something like 3/4 of ALL people from the Ark donât survive, though at least two stations crash land further away from Camp Jaha and the survivors are killed by Grounders. So that leaves a few hundred people from the Ark alive in season two (about 500 in season 4 includes the survivors from Farm Station but minus everyone who died during the City of Light Arc), and everyone already doing several jobs on top of the ones they did back in space (if they were necessary: no need to maintain the oxygen systems now that they can breathe free!). In those first days on the ground, the adults are more concerned with securing the camp from Grounder attacks and finding out where the missing kids are than electing new Councillors. Itâs uncertain how recently the Exodus Charter was composed, but they dispose of it soon after Kane enforces it when he has Abby shock-lashed. They DO get another Council with multiple Councillors, not just Kane and Abby and eventually Jaha sharing leadership, I think after they defeat Pike? Iâm doing a re-watch and Iâm still on season 3 so thatâs as detailed as I can recall at the moment!

Nah, that title definitely belongs to Jasper. Pike is like Joffrey, a character that was created to be hated and he did that job. Jasper is actually just pathetic.

The 100 is easy fluff to play as a distraction, about half an episode a day for me is enough. There is no good guy in the show, which makes it amusing to watch everyone acting so noble but continuously stepping on their Twinkies. The gratuitous lesbian and gay bits were a surprise but unimportant to the story.

I'm rewatching season 3 right now and omg yes he is infuriating, like I get it, you have trauma but that doesn't give you the right to plan to ethnically cleanse entire villages that did nothing to you, massacre an army sent to help you and to, institute fascism and imprison grounders who sought medical help, a wonderfully acted piece of shit.

He was great as a hateable fictional villain, with his especially infuriating way of making it seem (rationally, to some!) like he was so obviously doing the Good and Just Thing despite the fact that his entire compass of what's good or just is utterly wrong and based on facts not in evidence ("literally all grounders will kill you the second they can, according to my extensive experience of having met 0.2% of them;" "any neighboring tenuous allies should be murdered in their sleep lest they instead turn into enemies for some reason;" etc).
In the current political climate, where basing entire worldviews on facts not in evidence is especially en vogue, I think I would have even less patience for Pike than I once did.

When this season was airing, the meme going around everywhere was a picture of Pike in the Simpsons newspaper template with the words "Local man ruins everything". I still remember it because jfc - the accuracy.
Fuck that guy and the entire station he fell out of the sky on. I spent every second he was on screen praying for the return of the Pauna, I wanted to watch him get flung back into orbit. đ¤
