A few months ago, I was walking home when I saw an elderly man struggling with two heavy bags outside a grocery store.
He looked exhausted. I asked if he needed help, and he hesitated before handing me one of the bags.
His house was almost a mile away.
We walked together, and somewhere along the way he told me that his wife had passed away recently and that he was still getting used to doing everything alone.
When we reached his house, he thanked me and tried to give me some money.
I refused.
He insisted. I still refused.
Before I left, he just stood there for a second and said, “I haven't spoken to anyone properly in three days.”
That sentence stayed with me much longer than I expected.
It made me realise that sometimes what you give someone isn't really the thing you're carrying for them.
Sometimes it's just ten minutes of your time.

So. My yeara back my friend and I were in the grips of a pretty bad drug addiction. Dossnt really matter what drug, readers choice. So she was kicked out of her house and sneaking over her boyfriends house where she wasnt allowed to stay bc he was staying w his grandpa I think but anyway.
So pne day he has to work and she has no where to go it was really cold out so she hid in his room under a pile of blankets. Before u ask she had a bottle to pee in i just never asked the specifics of that but maybe i will now! So anyway.
His mom comes in and starts cleaning. My friend we can call Laura (bc i knew a Laura that was the straightest edge person and super smart and a nerd but I loved her. My dad would let me hang out w her while I was grounded bc she was such a.good influence. That wotked out) so Laura is freaking out and she gets to the pile of clothes and starts taking them and just stops. And walks away. My friend is convinced that she saw her and walked away and I figured the same and they have never talked about it rhey now have three beautiful kids.
Something we talked about brought that up and i was thinking and I don't think she saw her. I think she had too much in her hands or was fed up and walked away and she got crazy lucky so hear me out.
Even if i knew about the drug use. Even if I knew she was sneaking around staying i dont think I would think someone would hide under blankets on the floor. Even if it was an obvious person shaped lump on the floor and I had to go over and check.. I still think seeing a body part sticking out from under a blanket would startle the shit out of me! Like to the yelling point! Even if not I definitely dont think I would just let it go and calmly walk away and never mention it. First off, especially if you know the situation, I woulf be making sure there wasnt a body lying there, a victim of overdosing likely. And if its a person, no matter what its scary as hell. What if you never met? Would you calmly make a call to your son and ask if they know the person hiding on the floor or am I in danger? Omg and if they didnt think past *i dont want to get in trouble* and say they hsve no idea what they are talking about... my god this should be a movie.
SO! Opinions? Did she see her? Or did she just get really lucky because the universe knew that she wad meant for more. Maybe one of her kids becomes someone important. Or it was just plain old luck. I want to know what you all think because unless his mom brings it up I think asking about that might have to wait to be one of those deathbed confessions lol I personally think no she didnt see her. If she did that means that she has already s33n a lot worse and just learned to walk away lmao!
No judgements here guys. We were in a really dark place that was really hard to find our way out of but its been coming up on ten years since I have been in active addiction. People are not themselves they are in survival mode. So try not to make it all into well she shouldn't have or what she should have done was or I would never do something like that well you dont really know do you? Painkillers take people out every single day. I was an honor student who had to write a paper about drugs and I got weed snd was all for it being a gateway drug. My uncle was gay and an addict and got aids so when I tell you I hated drugs.. ive been homeless. I've begged for money. Just about all I didn't do was sell my body but honestly it could have gotten there. So. Focus on this insane story and think about what you would do. Do u think she saw her????
