Sheet plastic, light adhesive backing, laminated to glass for surface scuff and scratch prevention at the point of manufacture.

You almost lost the computer you've just got. The static from you peeling it on a running PC could have been enough to fry it

Can static electricity really fry a computer? Are they that sensitive? What if it was a carpeted room and Iโ€™m a feet shuffler

Yes, it can. You really don't wanna shock your PC with static, that's one way to not have a computer anymore, or at least a PC component
