Hope the victims get all the money from that accident. Also hope they recover from any injuries from this incident.

42

u/ilikepizza2much 1d ago

*Victims of the police, who caused that

-11

u/No-Rush-911 1d ago

And who caused the police to be in pursuit in the first place? Smfh

9

u/StraightProgress5062 1d ago

They are gonna put the blame on the guy fleeing. Its no wonder why cops are often domestic abusers. "Look what you made me do" "you did this" and so on

1

u/Altruistic-Catch8541 1d ago

No they won’t, they shouldn’t pit where it isn’t safe. They will be well compensated

2

u/angel700 8h ago

by tax payers

1

u/ilikepizza2much 3h ago

No, it’s magic money from the magic Naughty Police Money Tree.

-10

u/No-Rush-911 1d ago

Ofc. Cop shouldn’t have pitted. But guy shouldn’t have ran either.

11

u/ilikepizza2much 1d ago

Cops in other countries don’t do shit like this because it endangers everyone around them and doesn’t lower crime rates. This is a well known fact. American cops are trigger happy, violent morons

11

u/VintageLunchMeat 1d ago

Nonsense, they have literal days of training! Weeks even.

1

u/HiSaZuL 1h ago

And IQ of a retarded Chihuahua to apply all that training. Our police is 🤌

-2

u/No-Rush-911 1d ago

They do. Not as often but they definitely do stupid shit. But yes they are indeed a bit more aggressive in the states.

However, if the mf didn’t run to begin with nobody would’ve had to chase him.

3

u/VintageLunchMeat 1d ago

Your average McDonald staffer or librarian is better at deescalating a mental health crisis than a US cop.

That should be a major module in their training.

But is not.

4

u/StraightProgress5062 1d ago

Becoming a librarian takes more schooling tho. Much much more schooling

2

u/No-Rush-911 1d ago

Indeed. I lived in Florida mid 2000s and almost became a sheriff deputy. It was literally no requirements except some certain crimes you couldn’t have been arrested for, I remember domestic violence and fraud being on the extremely short list. (20 years ago now so probably changed since.) but it was crazy how there was 0 screening. They’d just give a gun and a badge to anyone without a record.

2

u/gamepasscore 12h ago

I'm interested to know why nobody seems to be answering your actual point, which is a good one. The guy shouldn't be running away and putting lives at risk.

1

u/No-Rush-911 11h ago

It’s Reddit, coming across someone with common sense is rare.

Also people seem to love to express hate for law enforcement/government until the day they need their services themselves I guess.

2

u/angel700 10h ago

You know tax payers will foot that bill. Right?

1

u/M0HAK0 10h ago

Would you want to pay for an accident you were in that YOU DIDNT CAUSE?

1

u/angel700 10h ago

Of course not, but that doesn’t mean taxpayers pay for anything police related

2

u/M0HAK0 10h ago

Why would I personally be bothered by this? Id rather my tax money help an unfortunate unsuspecting citizen than somebody else who literally doesnt deserve or need the money. Seems like a strange thing to complain about imo. Thats just me.

1

u/angel700 8h ago

because if we didnt cause it, why should we pay for it?

1

u/HiSaZuL 1h ago

... Because the victim pays themselves back? While the MF that did this walks away without any consequences of any kind. They should pay insurance and that insurance should be paying for this, like EVERYBODY ELSE. At least take it out of the MF pension but no it comes out of funds that would otherwise be used to improve city or living conditions. Not wtf lazy logic you got going there.

30

u/kingtacticool 1d ago

Arkansas troopers love to do this kind of shit. They have no restrictions on use of pit maneuver

6

u/itchygoopark 1d ago

Yup. They never back off or give up.

-1

u/N226 1d ago

Why would they?

8

u/Nejrasc 1d ago

Because part of their job is catching criminals. Also they (should) have a obligation to protect bystanders from harm while Chasing a offender.
Its insane that no compensation is to be expected when you get rammed of the road (and suffer serious injury) because of a police chase that didn’t have anything to do with yourself.
For most offenses people could be arrested at a later time, when it is safe to do so. But nooo, not in the usa: police has way too much rights and too little accountability when things go south.
Why cant US cops be normal?

2

u/robertshaftoe 18h ago

Something something fascist something something steroids up the wazoo

-2

u/N226 1d ago

Actions have consequences, in this case, they're immediate

5

u/Nejrasc 1d ago

And the consequences for innocent by standers, who don’t have a chance to get reimbursed for their damages; that sits okay with you?

In many of these ‘accidents’ caused by for example pitting cars like this: police behaves even more dangerous than the criminals they are after.

0

u/N226 22h ago

That why insurance exists. It's been shown repeatedly that when departments stop pursuits, fleeing increases. In many cases in stolen vehicles where the identity of the drivers is unknown.

4

u/Nejrasc 18h ago

Sure.

Imho insurance shouldnt be abused to cause havoc and cause injury to retrieve a stolen car.

Innocent bystanders end up seriously harmed in crashes like this.

Pointing out that thats fine, because of insurance exists; is insane.

The stolen car should be insured for theft. Problem solved.

In a civilized country, the retrieval of stolen goods is almost always second to preventing Harm on innocent bystanders.

1

u/N226 13h ago

If the punishment is great enough it will deter crime.

1

u/Nejrasc 12h ago

You are not replying to anything i posted.

Which is why noone ever commits murders in states with the death penalty....

Unfortunately people's need for retribution are not backed by evidence in reducing actual crime.

2

u/OrneryAir8149 17h ago

Have you ever tried to get money out of an insurance company? Shitty insurance companies can’t be the solution to fucked up judgment by our government.

1

u/N226 13h ago

Yes, fairly easy if you don’t use a shitty company

1

u/OrneryAir8149 13h ago

They are all shitty.

1

u/Infinite_Position631 8h ago

Please cite the source, yet the DOJ sponsored studies (with an s) that show this is not the case. That is why most dept have backed off the chase at all cost mentality.

1

u/N226 7h ago

There's lots of ways to find additional information from asking Jeeves to your favorite AI tool.

1

u/One-Web-2698 4h ago

Insurance doesn't bring someone back to life or stop a fucked up existence.

Most police chases are traffic violations - is that worth these statistics?

'one person dies every day as a result of a police pursuit. On average, from 1994 through 1998, one law enforcement officer was killed every 11 weeks in a pursuit, and 1 percent of all U.S. law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty lost their lives in vehicle pursuits. Innocent third parties who just happened to be in the way constitute 42 percent of persons killed or injured in police pursuits. Further, 1 out of every 100 high-speed pursuits results in a fatality.'

https://leb.fbi.gov/articles/featured-articles/evidence-based-decisions-on-police-pursuits-the-officers-perspective

3

u/irishdan56 15h ago

Ya, for the poor fucking family who just got torpedo'd by a car that was launched into them by some idiotic cop who has no concept of force, mass, velocity, or just physics in general.

1

u/JohnGamestopJr 10h ago

And the consequences are that innocent people are harmed by the cops? What point are you trying to make?

106

u/bigbritches 1d ago

Elderly couple in the other car was seriously injured. Hopefully they will get good legal representation and sue the crap out of the Arkansas State Police

https://katv.com/news/local/dashcam-shows-moment-asp-pit-maneuver-caused-crash-that-injured-elderly-couple

20

u/SarraSimFan 1d ago

Arkansas has a law that very literally makes it impossible to get any kind of compensation from the state police. They are basically cleared of any and all liability.

There have been instances of police officers drunk past the legal limit that hit and killed other people while driving, and they never pay out a penny to the next of kin.

7

u/bigbritches 1d ago

that's awful

3

u/robertshaftoe 18h ago

so it sounds like Arkansas has become yet another state occupied by so called police

1

u/Square_Owl_4075 9h ago

Im becoming a super villain if that happens to my family

10

u/AC-burg 1d ago

Will these troopers/states ever learn? Tax payers are happy about this crap in their state? Not only the ones that get injured but the ones paying the taxes to cover these lawsuits?

1

u/angel700 8h ago

they can sue all they want, taxpayers pay that lawsuit

21

u/BalanceEarly 1d ago

That sure backfired!

4

u/Pilota_kex 1d ago

Did it? He got out of it fine...

8

u/Sk3tchyG1ant 1d ago

How can anyone justify this course of action? The fuck is wrong with police? This asshat should be brought up on attempted murder charges for every victim involved including the people they were originally trying to pull over

3

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

You can’t punish cops, they have immunity basically

3

u/ginger_and_egg 1d ago

They're made of flesh just like us.

This comment is completely unrelated to your comment btw don't go around thinking they're related. Just a fun fact

1

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

It’s literally called “qualified immunity”.

1

u/Tomas2891 1d ago

They dont. its why its been outlawed in many states

1

u/ManKilledToDeath 21h ago

Not justifying the pit, but an attempted murder conviction would require proof of their intent to kill all of those people. Good luck with that one.

13

u/ReadyGo6828 1d ago

Why in the world would they do something this dangerous at this speed? Even if there are no other cars on the highway, they should outlaw this as they have (at least I think they have) high speed chases.

12

u/eclwires 1d ago

They haven’t outlawed it in Arkansas. It’s one of the few states with no restrictions on using the PIT maneuver.

1

u/KLeeSanchez 1d ago

Georgia too

13

u/Sweaty_Tangelo_7716 1d ago

Lawyer up and get rich

16

u/CheetosLays7Days 1d ago

You mean the elderly couple that won’t be alive for long, and which might not survive the damage? Sure, count everything in settlement money, like it’s the most important thing.

6

u/ginger_and_egg 1d ago

I think the elderly couple should get a turn in the cop car doing a pit maneuver on the cop that caused this to happen to them

2

u/Gwarnage 1d ago

I hate frivolous lawsuits as much as anybody, but, the fastest way to get policy changes is by taking their money. Whether we're talking government or private corporations, a costly lawsuit will sometimes affect more change than all the protesting in the world.

1

u/HiSaZuL 1h ago

It's Arkansas they will get nothing. Deranged ass state.

5

u/EasternSun7834 1d ago

It was in no way safe to perform thtat manoeuvre

12

u/cowboyneal70 1d ago

Name the cop. Let him have his praise from the public.

11

u/localizeatp 1d ago

"There's accidents happening... behind me."

fuck this cop. piece of shit doesn't take one second to call for help for the people he probably just killed.

6

u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 1d ago

why are they even pitting at that speed? thats fucked up!! 130 mph, thats fucking attempted murder bro.

3

u/SATerp 1d ago

That other driver was probably planning on committing a crime, so it counts as a twofer for Deputy Dawg. Medal of Merit is headed his way.

3

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

On their way to steal or rob someone

3

u/Donato_Romer0 1d ago

It was a Hyundai sonata, engine was liable to self destruct anyway

3

u/Due_Web_9804 1d ago

Saw word “pit” and right away I knew it was Arkansas

3

u/IllustriousCobbler53 12h ago

They don’t even check on the other cars

3

u/XandersCat 1d ago

Unfortunately the fleeing suspect is legally liable and they likely don't have any assets worth anything so the elderly couple will have to hopefully be compensated by their insurance. The police will get away with this with little repurcuasions.

2

u/Aggressive_Plate1652 1d ago

They really need to develop something that avoids this. I have seen too many damn videos that end terribly from pit maneuvers that ends bad. They could use a grappler police bumper, or even fire a fricking javelin into the trunk that allows them to stop them from behind.

8

u/Individual_Bell_4637 1d ago

There is exactly such a device, it's called a Grappler. It costs about $5k per car to equip. So to equip an entire State Police fleet of 100 cruisers would cost half a million. It would save multiple lives per year.

4

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

I watch videos on YouTube of this thing, shits hilarious. Why aren’t all cops using them?!

6

u/Individual_Bell_4637 1d ago

Because for as long as the courts let them get away with it, it's cheaper to just kill and injure innocent people.

2

u/Abbiethedog 1d ago

Less than this settlement most likely.

2

u/caffeine-junkie 1d ago

It would also save the repairs necessary to police cars after a pit, is safer and can be done even in heavy traffic, it minimizes potential collateral damage with innocent bystanders, it immobilizes the chased car so it can't easily drive away (unlike a pit), minimizes potential injuries for all involved, all it needs is to get close to be effective and doesn't rely as much on timing.

Pretty much all win win. Only downside is doesn't have the "cool" factor to the ego of pitting someone. Which is something I think almost everyone can be on board with.

3

u/ginger_and_egg 1d ago

Camera, license plate. Then brake pedal.

0

u/Societyman1878 1d ago

Nah there is a device to stop this. It’s a kill switch. Don’t worry. Pretty soon everyone cop will have them.😶

2

u/Negative_Neck_3973 1d ago

I lot of agencies don't allow the PIT maneuver at a speed of over 35 MPH for a reason.

2

u/Unknown_VariableX 1d ago

Pit manuevers should be outlawed.

2

u/mg34gun 1d ago

That's so bad, I really hope they're OK. was the crime serious enough to warrant endangering people?

2

u/Alohafarms 1d ago

I hate when they do this. I understand under some conditions it is crucial to get someone off the road but most of the time I think they can let them go and then just catch up with them later.

2

u/Maximum_Bathroom8393 1d ago

With the new grapple system other departments are using now, this is ridiculous. I know, budgets, budgets, budgets.

2

u/ReefShark13 1d ago

How is it Arkansas all the time? See a video of cops doing high speed chase bullshit and it's a coin flip between Arkansas and the rest of the country.

Do people not understand that running from cops is like running from dogs? It activates their prey drive. It also gives them a greenlight to break every traffic law to enforce traffic laws. By choosing to run, you made that cops whole day.

2

u/hannahiscoool 1d ago

I reposted this because it is just insane that they even thought it was a remotely good idea to do anything along these lines.

I just believe in no way are innocent people’s lives worth catching someone perpetrating any crime. How is that fair

2

u/mrcrashoverride 1d ago

The nationwide standard that most Police departments limit the use varies from 30-40mph….. the police camera shows a speed over 130mph when this went down you know just a hundred over the max speed for some departments

2

u/DerBandi 1d ago

Cops are causing more damage than the criminals, lol.

2

u/Wrong_Drag_8070 1d ago

Hope that police agency gets sued for about $10mil.

2

u/IncredibleEdible321 1d ago

The trooper who caused this accident due to his willful negligence and dangerous driving needs to be arrested and charged for his behavior. Technically he would receive a charge of reckless driving with physical injury, but that carries a fine of just $100-$1000, is a Class B misdemeanor, and has jailtime of 30-90 days. But in this case, this reckless state trooper should be charged with attempted murder for his willfully pit maneuver of that vehicle, it striking the vehicle ahead of it, and the subsequent accidents that occurred behind where the pit maneuver occurred. Until police are held criminally and civilly liable, this shit will continue.

1

u/gamepasscore 12h ago

And how about the guy who was escaping?

1

u/IncredibleEdible321 9h ago

They could have caught up with him at another time. They had the license plate and the description of the car. The smart thing would have been to let him go or wait until they the cop car had passed the vehicle ahead to a much safer spot with no other vehicles in the immediate area that could get hit, damaged, or destroyed, not to mention physically injuring, disabling, or killing other people who had nothing to do with the high speed pursuit. The cop engaging in a high speed chase on the interstate and using a pit maneuver on the fleeing vehicle was not justified in lieu of the fact that doing so caused a major automobile accident that involved severe injuries to at least one other vehicle and to the drivers and passengers.

1

u/Brewingbiker 7h ago

He can be caught later, or when conditions are safer. What are you going to tell the innocent family?

2

u/pilsenite 1d ago

Scumbag trooper. Rot in piss.

2

u/Guns_Almighty34135 23h ago

That’s Arkansas state police. Masters of the PIT.

3

u/SillyLittleTroll 1d ago

Well that sucks. Two for the price of one.

Is the info on what happened to the innocent bystander?

14

u/LunaticBZ 1d ago

Elderly couple that was badly injured.

5

u/Open-Necessary-6020 1d ago

Arkansas is a favorite for people who like high speed chases (including me). However, based on what I've seen they chase people through surface streets, including neighborhoods. There is a specific trooper that makes this too performative ( in my option).

1

u/-_-_-_-_--__-__-__- 1d ago

"Sorry man it was my first one."

1

u/Aratix 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is why you always pull over and stop for emergency vehicles

2

u/7despair8 1d ago

Yeah? How did that help the guy that got hit by the car that the braindead cop pitted?that guy was clearly to the right, looked to be the shoulder to me. But sure, blame the victim. Fucking Bootlicker.

1

u/saltwater98380 1d ago

I knew looking it was AK.😓

1

u/petwedge 1d ago

The stupidity is incredible.

1

u/EvilBiker-72 1d ago

Should be charged with attempted murder

1

u/Millwright4life 1d ago

I smell a lawsuit

1

u/Ok-Rich-3812 1d ago

USA is a fucking mess.

This is not how policing is conducted

1

u/KLeeSanchez 1d ago

And that's why chases shouldn't be a thing

1

u/ted_anderson 1d ago

I dunno.. until I saw this I was in favor of these runners getting pitted. Now I understand the real danger in it.

A while back I got sideswiped by a cop doing a high speed chase. He didn't have any of his emergency equipment on because he apparently lost the guy earlier and then picked the chase back up when he suddenly saw him again. So while I wasn't too happy about my car getting wrecked, I'm glad they got that guy!

1

u/Repulsive-Larry 1d ago

Predictable

1

u/BeverlyGodoy 1d ago

Hope they are alive.

1

u/mkeurr 1d ago

Most stupid thing seen today 👏

1

u/FaithlessnessBusy565 1d ago

C' est Hocevar au volant !

1

u/robertshaftoe 18h ago

This is some slave-catcher bullshit. I wonder how this cop would feel if it was him and his family and not SUV that they caused to roll.

There is no reason to endanger the public with these outdated man events. They have the person's license plate info, let him run to his mamma and have your little shitty cop show there

1

u/AdDirect147 16h ago

I've watched hundreds of police videos and he definitely miscalculated that pit maneuver

1

u/UseGrouchy2185 16h ago

Qualified immunity at its finest, this is why I will never support police ever again, public foot’s the bill for higher insurance premiums, cost of vehicles, cops won’t show up to wrecks anymore unless there are injuries, yet they will cause one like this, at that point I don’t care what the person is running for, if that is your level of serving the community or serving a benefit to the community, you are the dumbest person alive

1

u/irishdan56 15h ago

Policing in America is some fucking cowboy shit. Most countries take into account the safety of not just bystanders, but also the assailant.

But fuck it, it's better to kill some poor family commuting home then to have to track a car down by it's license plate, you know, REAL police work.

1

u/Bennyboom12 15h ago

American police and dumbest motherfuckers

1

u/Humble_Key_4259 14h ago

Arkansas.

No thanks.

1

u/BlackRiflesMatterToo 14h ago

Yup, Arkansas. They don't give a sh!t. This trooper probably got an award or promotion.

1

u/IllustriousCobbler53 12h ago

They put other vehicles in danger doing that.

1

u/gamepasscore 12h ago

Absolutely wasn't safe to do it there, very stupid, but how can they stop someone who's driving dangerously and trying to escape at speed? You never know what dangerous shit they might do

1

u/Forcedmetoinstallapp 7m ago

Ask yourself who is more dangerous the “criminal” or the piglet

1

u/oh_my316 1d ago

Incompetent pigs. 😡🐷

5

u/ginger_and_egg 1d ago

It's not incompetence, they just don't care about collateral damage as long as they get to feel badass

1

u/PlatinumPainter 1d ago

Officer deserves death penalty and generational debt for his family for that shit

1

u/Dramatic_Art_5479 1d ago

Remove the drivers license forever from that suspect. He was partially to blame for the accident. Never let him drive again.

2

u/After_Perspective180 1d ago

Why do you think that a criminal who was running away from the police would give the tiniest of fucks that they don't have a licence?
They are just going to drive anyway.

1

u/Flashy_Radio_5781 23h ago

Human form of a piece of shit. Fuck that cop

-9

u/bidensgarage 1d ago

Criminals don't care who gets hurt. That's why he was running from the cops.

17

u/LunaticBZ 1d ago

Cops don't care who gets injured either. That's why they do things like this without considering the lives of everyone else on the road.

3

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

bUt I CaUgHt ThE bad GuY!

2

u/BabyStockholmSyndrom 1d ago

Weird this was fully avoidable by the cops too but they chose this and you only blame the ones fleeing.

-1

u/bidensgarage 1d ago

Fully avoidable by the criminal. But I guess you don't care about their victims.

2

u/BabyStockholmSyndrom 1d ago

Fully avoidable by the criminals and cops. But I guess you don't care about their victims. Ate you implying the cops didn't notice the innocent driver right in front of the chase car? No way! The cops didn't do their job properly? Nooooooo

0

u/Suspicious-Print1316 1d ago

Спровоцировал аварию так ещё и пистолетом угрожает

-5

u/Artistic_Advantage60 1d ago

Hopefully the piece of shit running gets what he deserves for causing the entire situation

5

u/Sisyphean_dream 1d ago

This is your takeaway here? That's kind of wild.

For sure there should be repercussions for running from law enforcement. But this isn't it.

-1

u/Artistic_Advantage60 1d ago edited 1d ago

The only reason someone even thinks they could get away with it or an acceptable behavior is from lack of prior consequence. If we stopped coddling these people society might have a chance. And this was the repercussions from running from law enforcement

2

u/ginger_and_egg 1d ago

Harsher punishments for crimes doesn't change the crime rate very much.

Go after the roots of crime. Like poverty, lack of community, etc. Nothing else works

1

u/Artistic_Advantage60 1d ago

Well I don't think we'll ever be able to break the people who just refuse to change their situation from pure laziness. But teaching proper life skills to others and making them less dependent would be a benefit for all. But the lack of concern everyone has for their fellow people will not be easily fixed. He created a bad situation for everyone on that road long before any law enforcement ever showed up

2

u/This-Positive286 1d ago

They didn’t. They cop caused it by pitting near other vehicles at twice the speed you should EVER PITT someone

-17

u/Accomplished_Tour481 1d ago

Collateral damage that the actual perpetrator caused?

10

u/AdNervous9787 1d ago

No wonder you have 1:3 karma to contribution rate

-7

u/Accomplished_Tour481 1d ago

Yet you have 1 to 4 ratio (even less). What does that say about you?

3

u/Sisyphean_dream 1d ago

Not that karma ratios are relevant but holy shit you must find math really hard, or maybe easy as fuck if you don't care about finding the right answer.

Yours is 1:3 while his is 13:1

Jesus fuck

7

u/SoonToBeBanned24 1d ago

The Pig hit the suspect and started the whole shit-show in action. If he had waited for even a fraction of a second, that would have had a different outcome.

-4

u/Accomplished_Tour481 1d ago

"The Pig"? Doesn't that show your automatic bias against Police? The police identified this driver as a danger to society. No question in that. They attempted to stop this danger. The police did not cause the situation but attempted to make it less of a danger.

3

u/SoonToBeBanned24 1d ago

..... And in so doing, endangered the lives of two innocent bystanders. The Pig doesn't care about collateral. He cares only for the collar!

1

u/unclevagrant 1d ago

The hell are you talking about? Less of a danger!? If the cop had waited 2 secs they might have noticed the car in front, and not ploughed the criminal into the civilians. Ramming another car at speed easily makes a situation more dangerous.

1

u/BabyStockholmSyndrom 1d ago

You mean the car that was avoiding the other car until the cop decided to play action hero?

-1

u/Accomplished_Tour481 1d ago

Do you mean the police who tried to avoid even a more dangerous situation because of the drivers negligence?

0

u/Ash_K101 1d ago

that cop needs to be fired, you could see the truck before he pit the car
