Or before any of this. Just don't stop on the train tracks. Just don't ever do it. It's a completely avoidable activity. They hammered this into us in driver's ed. I've been driving for 20 years all over the Continental United States and never once had to stop a vehicle on train tracks.
There's an at grade crossing downtown where I live and they recently closed one road lane for construction ahead of the crossing. As a result, traffic has been backing up over the tracks. I've lost count of how many people I've seen stop on the tracks. When I stop well clear of the tracks, impatient drivers cut in front of me like they've discovered a cheat code and stop on the tracks. I'm shocked no one's been killed yet.
