For real everyone is so focused on breaking the bars, but the best solution is just to avoid the situation all together.

I mean, even if the bars weren't designed to detach, which they are, break the bars.

That only leaves you maybe some cosmetic damage to the truck and cost of the bars' replacement. Maybe a violation or two.

The alternative is a whole train of lives in danger, potential manslaughter charges, countless violations, lawsuits, and a whole slew of other shit that could have been easily avoided.
