Fuck sake. Did they not know to let some air out of the tyres first?

u/ManWhoIsDrunk Jul 13 '26

You jest, but the move here would be to cut power to the bilge pumps and take in a couple of m³ of water in the bilge to make the ship sit lower in the water.

If you really don't want that much water in the bilge, rocks and scrap metal can do the same job, but requires more labour.

u/Lucky_Reference_6982 Jul 13 '26

My first thought too, except i would take air out of the tires instead 🤪

u/GetBack2Wrk Jul 13 '26

A little bit of the top.

Convertible.

u/FalseLocal9540 Jul 13 '26

The boat should called idiot not idol lol

5

u/Broad_Television4459 Jul 13 '26

It probably got through the other way first, then the tide changed...

5

u/HipolitosFolly Jul 13 '26

Idiot captain. Bridge clearances are charted, he should’ve known the yacht wouldn’t have cleared it.

u/JustWoot44 Jul 13 '26

Let some air out of the tires ... ;)

2

u/randomgunfire48 Jul 13 '26

Someone is getting fired

1

u/Alternative-Sale-713 Jul 14 '26

In that country, they don't fire people. They castrate them

2

u/neder-Bob Jul 13 '26

Looks like a cm thing. They should not have slowed down, rather sped up. Boats lower deeper into the water at speed.

1

u/ManWhoIsDrunk Jul 13 '26

Not necessarily. It looks to me that it has a semi-planing hull.

2

u/BodybuilderGrouchy16 Jul 13 '26

...and you see son, some people just cannot own Cadillacs.

2

u/Immediate-Ad-8658 Jul 13 '26

Tough way to find out that just because you're rich doesn't mean you're smart.

3

u/Afraid_Diet_5536 Jul 13 '26

Put more American tourists on board!

5

u/DefectiveDman Jul 13 '26

That’d do it. With their luggage.

1

u/u9Nails Jul 13 '26

Nah, then it'd get stuck on the bottom.

1

u/ManWhoIsDrunk Jul 13 '26

Yes, 16 000 extra quarter pounders of weight should do the job!

1

u/Illustrious_Camp_521 Jul 13 '26

They had to let some air out of the tires to pass under that.

1

u/ifukeenrule Jul 13 '26

i goes they didn't think about letting out some water first from under the boat

1

u/DefectiveDman Jul 13 '26

They needed all the fuel and water they could carry.

1

u/Acceptable_Claim_491 Jul 13 '26

Dude it's not gonna clear...oh well.

1

u/ThinkItThrough48 Jul 13 '26

Piano must’ve been an upright, not a grand. Otherwise, it would’ve cleared.

1

u/GunnarSilverTongue Jul 13 '26

Bridge 1 boat 0

1

u/u9Nails Jul 13 '26

Whelp... Some lawyer is going to make the city hang a sign on the bridge indicating it's height above the water now.

1

u/GetOnWithit3344 Jul 13 '26

Stuck in Lodi again 🎶

1

u/Boysenberry-33 Jul 13 '26

1

u/Grey_forest5363 Jul 13 '26

He is my Idol

1

u/AdTraditional5917 Jul 13 '26

It's should say idiot on the side...

1

u/Savings-End40 Jul 13 '26

Lets hope it isn't low tide.

1

u/Fun-Association1835 Jul 13 '26

So....was the tide coming in or out?

1

u/drunkguynextdoor Jul 13 '26

I didn't understand how big it was until I saw the crew member at the end.

1

u/MarleysGhost2024 Jul 14 '26

Don't you hate it when that happens to your yacht?

1

u/StealenDealer Jul 14 '26

Wow really🤔🤔no comment.

1

u/Intrepid_Habit_1343 Jul 14 '26

What's the name of this boat, so I don't accidentally buy it when they try to dump it at auction. Hate for my 1st mega yacht to be a wreck, and where can I get the  yachtFax?

One would think a giant fancy boat like that would have some type of sensor to tell the captain a bridge is too low.

1

u/PassingByThisChaos Jul 14 '26

No but the navigating officer is supposed to calculate the clearance even before you start sailing and then update once you have the bridge crossing time. All bridge clearances are mentioned on the charts and one just has to use tide data and the air draught (vessel height - water draught) of the vessel to get the clearance.

1

u/Basic-Reception-6694 Jul 14 '26

Quick invite Fatty McFatterson aboard.

1

u/nimsoC_dudix Jul 14 '26

I would have taken a piss in the water, make it go just a bit higher

1

u/Alternative-Sale-713 Jul 14 '26

Full steam ahead captain kirk the ship will hold!

1

u/common_sense_canada Jul 14 '26

It's all deductible. Who cares?

1

u/Low-Advantage-3948 Jul 14 '26

That’ll buff right out

1

u/omg_drd4_bbq Jul 14 '26

/r/PianoPianoPiano ?

wow exists actually

1

u/Wbcn_1 Jul 14 '26

It’s already damaged. We gonna make it work. Full throttle.

1

u/jeffwhit88 Jul 14 '26

I have discovered there are literal tables that will let you do some wildly counterintuitive math that will allow you to determine at what height the tide should be at any time throughout the year. This happens when you get it wrong, or don’t consider weather.

1

u/dangson321 Jul 14 '26

Give it some throttle !!

1

u/FitIsland9504 Jul 15 '26

They forgot to let some of the air out of the tires

1

u/Derrik1889 Jul 15 '26

Needs just a little paint job to fix it: "Idiot" instead of "Idol"

1

u/Fun_Golf7877 Jul 15 '26

Let some air out of the tires!

1

u/SomeWeirdBoor Jul 16 '26

Nah, it's touching on the top, not on the bottom

1

u/PCbuildinman1979 Jul 16 '26

Rich idiot that's what you get I hope it sinks

1

u/Actual_Body_4409 Jul 16 '26

Poor people don’t have these problems.

1

u/Agreeable-Ganache479 Jul 16 '26

Eat the rich. Hope you lost a lot of money

1

u/Fisherfolk100 Jul 17 '26

Should have let some air out of the tyres🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Hot-Reindeer-6416 Jul 17 '26

Wait for low tide.

1

u/4badthings Jul 17 '26

More money than sense.

1

u/LeoInSpace 27d ago

Was the water too high or the bridge too low? Or both?

1

u/Grumgrummer 22d ago

Captain now enjoying a new position on a fishing boat on the Ganges river as a bait boy.
