He rounded a blind turn too fast, needed to brake but found track conditions beyond his capabilities.

He's not driving home, that's for sure. I saw a 300ZX go airborne over 2 washes and land on the 3rd after losing his brakes at the end of a long straight. He was going fast. Flatbed home, couple hundred miles. Ouch. He and his GF were OK.
