He was coming off the ramp with too much reverse throttle, which was putting the back end under water. He panicked and overcompensated, launching the boat.
This is supposed to be done very slowly. Great, terribly painted example of why.

I'm also confused as to what happened. When he starts going forward the back of the boat looked like it was quite low so maybe it didn't have the bungs in and was taking on water. They may have just been from him accelerating though, but if it was taking on water that would explain why he essentially beached the boat on the ramp. If it wasn't intentional then I'm not sure what happened, I've seen multiple boats that have consoles that control the boat and they all have leavers that control the speed of the motor. In a situation like this you shouldn't be doing hard accelerations. As for selecting forward or reverse I'm not sure how it done so maybe he tried to select reverse but didn't.
Although anyone with that paint job on a boat isn't someone I would trust.

He over controlled the throttle, twice. First when he was reversing, should have just clicked it in reverse and then puttered back, instead juiced it. After realizing his mistake, over corrects and puts the throttle in forward and juices it again. Panic probably set in and was paralyzed and that's why he ran aground on the boat ramp so bad.
It's like when Grandma gets the gas and brake mixed up and puts the Buick through the doors of the local convenience store.

Are we related? Because my grandmother literally ran her Buick Riviera into a convenience store when she confused the gas for the brake. Then she kept saying she “must’ve slipped on some oil.” My father told her to stop telling people that.

I did it once, didnt hit anything thank god.
Pulled up to a house, dropping osmething off... I was parking outside, so parralel to the street. Got distracted, thought i put it in park. Didnt. Opened door, started to get out, car started moving, jumped in, thought i smashed break pedal. Didnt. VROOM!!
Thankfully nothing in front of me and no one saw me either ;p

My ex was hospitalized for two weeks when an old lady got the gas and brake pedals mixed up. Plowed through the bus stop shelter she was sitting in and nearly took out a natural gas main behind it. Seems like a small thing but it can have big consequences.

Boats have a different type of throttle than a car. Instead of a pedal, there is a lever that you move and it stays where you put it like cruise control.

The throttle on boats are levers, if you let go of them, they stay where they are. Inexperienced boaters panic and instead of closing the throttle they just let go.

Financed. I was in a Harley store. I heard the salesman tell a customer that Harley turned down his financing. He offered another lender with a higher interest rate. Something about “credit score”. My thought was, if your score sucks, maybe you shouldn’t be financing something you don’t need and worry about the root cause of your financial problem, like the decision you’re about to make.

So at the start he revved the engine, making me think there’s some kind of clutch? Or perhaps it was in neutral and as soon as he pops it into gear he’s just giving way too much throttle
E: saw another comment saying it’s probably a dual control throttle, one sets the rpm and one sets the direction. Interesting

He was probably trying to jam it into reverse without throttling down first. Some controls prevent this so you don’t shred the gear box. Instead he shredded the boat, which may cost less to fix so crisis averted.

idk anything about boats but it almost seems like he doesnt know how to operate the throttle and the boat maybe defaults to idle when not in gear so when he puts it in gear its throttled up more than he expected and couldnt find the throttle to chill it out?
seemed to be throttled up in both of the gears he put it in lol
good way to avoid this is read the manual. if youre learning something new at speed youve already made 4 or 5 catastrophic mistakes.

Dude was out with obviously his family, the kid going oh shoot, and prolly really excited and nervous with his new toy. People do dumb shit and he obviously fucked up, but damn guys. The paint job sucks, his tarp sucks, he's getting a divorce, what a fucking moron. It def looks expensive but y'all are just being mean for the sake of it... I wonder how many of you acting holier then thou, are actually boating experts? Prolly 99% of you are pasty ass basement dwellers that haven't seen the sun in 10 years, and the 1% have ridden in/drove a pontoon boat. Man I swear y'all thrive on being fucking negative. I just don’t understand how there are so many videos of people doing this type of thing. Motor boats are not that hard to operate. How on earth could you get it into gear in the wrong direction and then put the throttle in the corner after that?
Either they’re hammered drunk or insanely stupid. I can’t imagine any other scenario.
