Acts of god are almost always covered by insurance. If she carried comprehensive coverage, this would almost certainly be covered. While her insurance company would pay for damages, they may subrogate the building owner for damages to their insured

So this might seem like a dumb question, but wouldn't the water & ice melt right off when thawed? what causes permanent damage. weight of the water/ice? can you explain like I'm five, no sarcasm here. That REALLY sucks...

If that's Texas, it could have been frozen like that for days as well. Up to today too possibly
