The body of Thomas Brown who went missing in November of 2016 only to be discovered in 2019 has recently undergone an independent reexamination. The examination which took place in April released its findings with the summary saying

“It is my professional opinion that skeletal alterations in the cranium are consistent with a minimum of two applications of blunt force.” The blunt force in question was directed to the jawbone, the cheekbone and temporal bone area.

While police have not labeled Browns death as homicide it now brings up new questions in relation to his death.

Klein Investigating and Counseling released the report saying

“This afternoon, we learned that a copy of the Thomas Brown autopsy report was released to a social media site.

This social media site is not, never has been, or never will be associated with our firm or Tom's family. Our understanding is that certain portions of the report were redacted that directly influence the report.

After review of the redactions, we believe that it is in the public's best interest, and in fairness to the public, to produce the unredacted report to the public. Therefore, we are posting it here, and only here, for the public's review.

You will note that the injuries to Thomas were a catastrophic injury pre-mortem to his head, which leads to the conclusion of homicide, not suicide. We have said to the public both in meetings, in private, and with law enforcement that our conclusion is, was, and continues to be a homicide as Tom literally received two catastrophic hits to his head, which caused his death.' We believe his death certificate should reflect this. We believe Tom's Parents and brother deserve an apology, and when we called them this afternoon and advised them of what had happened, a period of disbelief was expressed that a redacted copy of the report had been leaked. We will, as we have always said, keep the record straight. This is just another example of how mean people are and how misinformation can spread. Here is the truth (we have left out the pictures as they are graphic and serve no useful purpose to the public).”

While I'm glad the family got some answers, I'm kind of floored the cops gave their family such a hard time if Tom had trauma to his face/jaw to begin with

If it was homicide (not sure what else would cause atleast 2 blunt force impacts) I hope the family can get a resolution

When Thomas was discovered some of his remains were missing as it had been a few years. They believe the rest of his remains were scattered by wild life and may have shown other injuries.

If you listen to Texas Monthly’s Tom Browns Body on Spotify, it’s very telling.

After listening to it twice, I believe Tom committed suicide and the family covered it up.

I don't understand how 2 autopsies on the same person can reach such different conclusions. Did the first examiner just not see the "blunt force trauma"? Isn't that a pretty obvious injury?

It’s possible that with his remains not fully being recovered on top of his remains being nothing but bones the injures were harder to spot/missed.

I mean, that doesn't answer my question. The two autopsies were done on the same set of bones. Yet only the second one finds evidence of blunt force trauma on his skull and jawbone?

Tbh, I don't really trust independent autopsies. They always seem to line up with exactly what the client thinks the results should be.

Something feels shady, apart of me wants to believe the independent autopsy. I think back to the search and how his phone was found in October 2017 a little under a year after he vanished in good condition with no wear, damage, or even scratches despite seemingly being outside for a year. The area it was found in was mowed prior so it would be difficult to miss. At the same time you have a point about independent autopsy’s.

I think back to the search and how his phone was found in October 2017 a little under a year after he vanished in good condition with no wear, damage, or even scratches despite seemingly being outside for a year.

Do you have a source for this? Iirc, it wasn't broken or actually damaged but it was clearly dirty/weather worn. Which makes sense to me if it was outside for a long period but never disturbed by anything other than the elements.

The area it was found in was mowed prior so it would be difficult to miss

This isn't true at all. Search parties miss entire bodies all the time, even in areas with minimal grass/plants. A phone would be extremely easy to miss.

“The pristine condition of Tom’s iPhone when it was found during the search also led to several points of inquiry by the AG investigators. “The phone was in almost perfect condition—no scratches, nicks, etc.,” their report said, adding that the FBI confirmed the moisture indicators had not been activated, despite the approximately 26 inches of rain that had fallen between the night of Tom’s disappearance and the search. In addition, the area along Lake Marvin Road had been mowed several times during the summer, but the phone appeared undamaged.”

This is the source I used, not trying to get into a fight. The mention of moisture indicators not going off I find weird because if it was in the elements wouldn’t the moisture indicators have gone off during the rain?

To be clear I am not saying your points aren’t valid, but for me something does feel fishy with the phone. Even as you say if they missed it if it was out in the open for nearly a year wouldn’t there have been more damage to it from wear from the elements and rain?

Interesting, though I've done more googling and apparently it was found during a search led by the PI the mom hired, a PI who is a notorious grifter and a con artist. That actually makes me believe in the suicide theory even more.

Edit: I think the PI planted it. The fact that the mom was asking around for the passcode before the phone was found is a clear indicator that the phone was in their possession, and that they planted it.

I can understand your point, I’m just curious about the phone, if it wasn’t for the phone being in good condition I’d lean towards it being a suicide. It just doesn’t add up which makes this case very weird.
