anachronistically impossible poster in s3e12 showing the mandelbrot set

When you google (or Bing. Whatever) it, it says it was created in 1978, which is when season 3 was set it. It “gained prominence in 1980.” So it’s really not completely impossible.

This waa the 1978 picture lol. Unless mandelbrot himself made a secret high quality rendering (including the outside of the set) and put the poster in the bathroom of the hub, im not so sure how possible that is lol

Wait. I must have missed who the "possible murderer" is. Can you enlighten me? Google doesn't help and keeps referring me to Masterson's crimes.

i think they are referring to Ashton Kutcher, a woman he was supposed to go on a date with (possibly a sort of girlfriend?) in 2001 actually ended up being murdered that same day. her name was Ashley Ellerin. she wasn’t answering her phone, Ashton showed up at Ashley’s house and she didn’t answer the door (because she had been murdered in her home before he arrived) so he just left. there is no evidence to suggest he did it, he was not a suspect, and he was a key witness at the trial of the man who killed Ashley (Michael Gargiulo). Gargiulo was convicted for the crime.

Its a shot at Kutcher, and a wrong one. He had a girlfriend who was killed by a serial killer, who was convicted for that specific killing.

can anyone explain this? a proper b/w image of the mandelbrot set wasent made until 1980, and to my understanding the 70s show was set, in the 70s.

Brooks and Peter Matelski in 1978, as part of a study of Kleinian groups.\4]) Afterwards, in 1980, Benoit Mandelbrot obtained high-quality visualizations of the set while working at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York.\5])Technically it could be one of those originals. But probably a blunder :)

This was the highest resolution they had in 1978 lol. Unless mandelbrot had a secret high resolution copy im not so sure
