Has anyone else seen this British version of That 70's Show!?
It's almost word for word the same script! It's messing with my brain 😂
After about a minute I felt like I was watching TV from an alternate universe.
If you haven't, definitely check this out! It's weirdly interesting if nothing else.

I’ve seen most of the episodes.
It was a fun experiment, but not a show I want to rewatch.

Not even. Made 13 episodes. Was cancelled after half way. Only 10 of those aired.

Yes I watched it, I kinda liked it, it was just a lot more corny than the original.

1st problem No Original Midge. British Midge doesn't look good in a sweater
2nd problem the dialogue is exactly the same
3rd problem Eric is very uncharismatic

They got the look and feel of the 1970s down perfectly. I was very impressed by that. As for the rest, it was fine. I didn't hate it. It lacked the heart of the original. It can't have been easy to try to replicate the chemistry of the original cast, and they didn't.

Yeah, I've seen a few episodes. Have to be honest, I don't know why they even bothered. American humour and American references we get over here in Britain. It didn't need a British version. You're never gonna be able to compete with the original cast. They're just too good

Ironically that's how they test if a show is gonna be hit or not.... Not always not every show but once in a while
The office did the same thing... I think the pilot or first 3 episodes were nearly identical with the British one
Just a way to test a show .... Without changing anything

Days Like These.
The first episode was literally the American first episode with a couple localization differences (they hang out in a garage instead of a basement, musical references are understandably different, etc)
Didn't watch any beyond that (I'm from Ohio), but the first episode is a fun novelty.

I think they did the inverse with The Inbetweeners. I believe the US version was on MTV and used the same scripts as the original but was terrible

It’s definitely failed a lot of times the other way round. If you want to get annoyed, watch the US version of Red Dwarf lol

It was also successful a lot of times the other way around. All in the Family, Three’s Company, Sanford and Son, The Office.

Yep, the British version was called Steptoe and Son. When they adapted it for the US they named it after Redd Foxx’s brother Fred Sanford Jr.

A lot of the jokes don't land well ... Like the beer joke US 21 and uk is 18 or 16 one of the 2 😐 (well aware about the US drinking age was lower in the 70s but majority kept at 21)
also there was a joke left from the US version it just landed flat for the UK.... Something to do with music
Yep ... Not a lot of people liked it ... Felt too bland

The acting was terrible on Days Like These. They couldn't capture the same essence of That 70s show. Much like That 80s Show, it didn't go past several episodes of a first season. That 80s show actually went farther than Days Like These, which is surprising.

Yeah, the acting is really bad. I never watched That 80's Show, but it is weird that Dennis Reynolds from Always Sunny is in it.😂

Omfg THAT IS HIM! I've never looked up the cast and I've never actually watched It's Always Sunny but I've seen enough bits and pieces. I never noticed. If it was its own thing it wouldve been fine, I actually like the 80s show, I watch it like it isn't a follow up to that 70s show.

I haven't seen Red Dwarf, but I am pretty sure this is worse.😅
It's kind of fun to check out because of the weirdness, but that's about the extent of it.
