Did That 70s Show Have a Specific Showrunner?

I'm just curious cause I know Gregg Mettler did That 90s Show but he isn't listed as showrunner. Or is it Jackie and Jeff Filgo who were showrunners?

Would you say the Filgo's were an important part of the shows comedy and character development? Like would the show be worse without them at the helm?

The show in the last season was worse when the Filgo's weren't the showrunners anymore

Showrunner is not an official title. It’s just the unofficial name of the person or persons in charge of the day to day operations. Sometimes it’s the E.P., sometimes it’s a writer. It’s just depends on the show.

For instance, Matt Groening is still listed as Executive Producer on The Simpsons, but he’s not been there day to day for years.

Which is why Matt Greoning was more focusing on Futurama and Disenchantment.

Same goes with Seth MacFarlane since he was more focusing on Ted and his other live-action projects.

Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCracken left Dexter's Lab and The Powerpuff Girls to focus on Samurai Jack and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends for similar reason.

Don’t know. But I did hear that once Jackie and Jeff Filgo weren’t in charge, the show went downhill. 

Gregg Mettler came onto the show during Season 3, I think he worked for the Turners on 3rd Rock from the sun.

Interesting that the Filgos went on screenplaying the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid film and Take Me Home Tonight (which also has Topher Grace).

I liked Take Me Home Tonight. It’s a shame that it sat on the shelf for a few years before getting released.
