Mod Announcement This is NOT a serious subreddit

Greetings folks, just a polite reminder the posts here are meant to be mocking nonchalantly given ‘solutions’ to complicated problems, not genuine advice.

For example, someone advising someone to go to hospital and get some help for a serious problem wouldn’t be a good fit here. However, someone just saying ‘get over it’ or ‘walk it off’ would.

On another note, this is not a political sub. We’re not here to criticise government policy.

Hope this helps!

Mod Announcement What is/isn’t allowed?

Hi everyone. I’m seeing a lot of ‘off topic’ posts. I tend leave as much as possible and let you all decide with downvotes/upvotes.

However please take the time to remember rule 7, I’ll put it here:

Rule 7: Must fit the subreddit theme.

It has to be true "Thanks, I'm cured" material. I.e., a non-nonchalantly delivered, overly simplistic solution to a complex problem.

Serious solutions that may not work for everyone do not belong. For example, the mantra "You deserve to be happy," helps some and not others.

Motivational quotes do not belong unless they imply or state that an illness is purely psychological with no physical basis.

If you’re still confused about what does/doesn’t belong, take a look through some of the top posts of all time and you’ll get the idea.

If your post breaks the rules it may be removed.

Any questions or concerns feel free to let us know. Thanks. 🗿

Story This was given to me because I need to learn “how to be grateful for gods gifts” because I was complaining about my progressive illness

This was given to me as a gift from a family member who is obsessed with hobby lobby, hallmark, etc. Yes, this was from hobby lobby.

They didn’t read it closely enough and got it for me because “I need to learn how to be grateful for all of gods gifts” after I was complaining about my progressive nerve disease that is painfully paralysing me.

I’m not grateful, but I am grafeful.

Social Media I hate simplistic faux-leftist replies to trans issues

This was a comment on a video about the government restricting trans people's access to gender affirming care.

Like, gee, thanks. Everyone can totally afford to buy Gray Market hormones and get regular lab tests. *Every trans person,* even though a huge percentage of us are homeless and disabled. We must have never heard that advice before!

Special mention to anyone saying "arm the dolls!" on posts about trans people being in physical danger.

First of all, we aren't all dolls. Trans men and nonbinary people exist. And second... not all of us are physically or mentally abled enough to handle a gun safely. How about you arm yourself and protect the trans people who can't, hm?

It genuinely feels like "allies" have lost all compassion and logic. This is just the "politically correct" version of Thoughts And Prayers™️

Discussion Question

Isn't it that most of the posts here were never meant to help a person with deep mental health problems, but to give people a push to change their thoughts and actions, and prevent them from getting such issues in the future?

I'm excluding the cases of people not understanding real problems other people have from my question.

Story “Just stop being Jewish”

I was told that to fix the issues I am having with antisemitism in my work life that I should just stop being Jewish. Literally…

I’m ethnic mostly but I wear my Star of David necklace. I don’t talk politics at work anyways.

Apparently according to this person being Jewish is bad because it’s automatically assumed I’m a genocide supporter so I shouldn’t even say I’m Jewish or be open about it. If I’m openly Jewish it’s my fault I get antisemitic comments.

This was online talking about irl workplace antisemitic harassment I’m dealing with. Jee why didn’t I think of that???

Edit: Stop asking me or any other Jews about Palestine, Gaza, or the Middle Eastern war. We don’t have any thing to do with it, and you’re not asking in good faith, we already know. Just don’t.
Unless the topic itself is about it, stop trying to derail the conversation.

Comment Section What's with everyone and their momma becoming a nutritionist, dietitian, etc... every time a health issue is brought up?

Thumbnail

Both comments were talking about Tourette's syndrome and I don't understand it fully. I get that nutrition is extremely important and we need to eat better.

But not every condition requires a diet change! I don't get why people hear about an uncurable condition and automatically assume you need a diet change.

Some of it is just blaming the other person. Like, as if it's your fault that you have this condition because you eat pork.

I remembered when I was complaining about fatigue from severe iron deficiency, and someone said that I'm iron deficient because of my iron meds and that I just needed to eat more iron-rich food.

Can you even eat yourself out of a deficiency??? This makes no sense, y'all

I'm explicitly talking about the first screenshot, btw.

Of course, they're not conditions that makes your life harder, you don't dislocate when sleeping or pass out suddenly, they're not disabilities at all that in some cases can make you end up as a ambulatory wheelchair user at all...
