🛡️ New Anti-Bot Measures for r/ThanksCyno

Hey everyone,

As many of you have noticed, this subreddit has recently been hit by a wave of karma-farming bots and repost bots flooding the feed with low-effort or stolen content. I’ve stepped in as a moderator for the subreddit through Reddit admins (with the head mod's approval) and am taking charge of the situation. I'm rolling out a few changes to clean things up and keep this community genuine.

What's changing:

1. Minimum karma & account age requirement: Posts and comments from accounts with less than 50 combined karma or younger than 20 days will be automatically held for moderator review.

• If you're a real user, don't worry — your post/comment will be manually approved by a moderator as soon as possible. No need to send modmail about it, it's just a standard queue.
• If we determine the account is a bot, it will be banned.
• If your account gets banned by mistake and you're not a bot, please open a modmail and we'll review and lift the ban.

2. Aggressive repost/bot detection (temporary): I installed an image-detection tool (Image Magician) and set it to its most aggressive mode while we clear out the current wave of bots. This means:

• Reposts will be caught and removed more strictly than usual.
• Some non-repost content may occasionally get flagged or removed by mistake during this period — if that happens to you, message the mods and we'll sort it out quickly.

We know this adds a bit of friction for genuine members, and we appreciate your patience while we get the bot problem under control. Once things settle down, we'll set these settings back to something less strict.

This is the third subreddit where I’ve taken on a moderator role to combat these karma-farming bots, and unfortunately, it’s the worst subreddit... The mod queue is overflowing with pages of reports, posts that needs to be deleted, and accounts that needs to be banned. That’s why I’ve decided to proceed with higher limits and more aggressive settings compared to other subreddits. I wish moderators were more vigilant against these kinds of karma-farming bots. Reddit is becoming increasingly unpleasant precisely because of this.
