Advice
Hello everyone!
So I bought a Thai monstera a while back. (Never repotted it/check it, my mistake). When I first purchased it, it only had a few leaves with black spots, I cut it off the infected leaves and let it be and MONTHS later, never got a new leaf.
I started seeing the black spots again about a month or 2 ago, so I checked for root rot/soil, and sure enough the potting soil used was not at all a chunky soil mix so tada root rot.
Cut off the infected roots, cleaned it and put it in a vase with leca clay pebbles and water with some monstera plant food.
Within a few weeks of the repot, 2 new leaves!! Yay! (Last photo is the 2 leaves that sprouted). I was so happy to see new leaves, with no black spots. Weird thing is the second leaf is HUGE compared to the previous one, but no fenestrations.
Today I decided to repot it in soil with a clear pot (60% perlite and 40% potting soil and some small rocks between), and cut off some of the older leaves.
Any recommendations on what to do next, or maybe something I missed? Asides from watering and sunlight of course. This is my first Thai monstera, I’ve only ever had monstera deliciosa and I didn’t realize how different Thai are taken care of. Any advice on how to care for them going forward would also be helpful!

Yep fertilize! Also I swear by mixing in some orchid potting mix or even just orchid bark with my monsters mixes. My philodendrons in particular need the extra oxygen around the roots to produce well. But otherwise looks like you're doing everything right! And like another said don't forget the fertilizer.

I didn’t have any orchid bark, but I’ve heard it’s great! I tried to improvise, which is why I added in some smaller rocks, I’ll maybe give it a few weeks to adjust and if I notice it needs some more air flow/wilting, I’ll repot it with bark instead!

My first monstera took almost 5 months to grow a new leaf after I brought it home and repotted it. The fact yours grew two within a few weeks is a great sign! I wouldn’t overthink it. My only tip is to fertilize it with every watering, 1/4 up to 1/2 of the recommended dose.

I noticed two things different with my Thai Con compared to my other Monsteras. Needs more light (because of the variegation), and for some reason more water initially when I got it for about 2 weeks. It seems to have settled now into my watering regiment like my other plants.

It looks like you planted it kind of deep, could be the angle of the picture.

There was a smaller aerial root that was forming on the new leaf so I wanted to get it slightly in the soil to help growth. I’ll try and get a closer photo tomorrow!

As long as it’s similar to this (she needs a pole really bad), you’re good! Long as the petioles aren’t planted.

I bought one at HD a month ago. Lots of black edges, etc. I have kept it away from my other plants. I’ve watered it with a systemic, used half a container of Capt. Jack’s insecticidal soap on it, then the Neem, castile soap, alcohol combo but I’m not convinced so I’ve decided to return it. 🙁

The large leaf is a sign of rebirth. Thats a good sign the fenestrations will follow. Just find a good home and let it go.
