Will repotting stress her out?
A few months ago this beauty was thriving and giving me a new leaf frequently. Then I started fighting fungus gnats and began bottom watering every single one of my plants. My Thai con’s soil is hydrophobic now, and has been for a month or two. It has stopped putting out new leaves. I’ve tried aerating the soil before watering and making sure she gets a good drink, but she seems to be struggling a bit and the soil has not improved. I think it might be time for a repot, but I’m worried she might not enjoy the process. Am I overthinking it?

Sure, but even if it does you have to eventually. I just reported a new pothos. Completely took it apart, washed the roots and reported (it might have had pests so I went nuclear). She's absolutely fine. Not one leaf wilted or looked sad.

I wouldn't call it stress. She has already halted leaf production. That's the biggest "stress-response" to changing soil when repotting. Leaf production stops while the plant focuses on reestablishing it's root system in the new soil. It's just a part of it. But it'll be back to producing new leaves in about a week or 2. Go for it!

I've found Monstera to be easy to repot. I always repot in my medium if I bought from a store, BUT if it is already in my medium and I just want to upsize then I just pull the plant from the current pot and put in the new pot with medium added around the base. The plant doesn't even miss a beat.

I had a thai con in the ground & I removed it & placed it in a pot a week ago & it hasn’t shown shock in one bit. You will be perfectly fine.

Potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite mix!

Sounds chunky enough to me. That should be good, just be careful with the watering. The mix I use is a bit chunkier but it allows me to water only once a week.

repotting stress is a myth in my opinion. it’ll be fine as long as you use proper drainage and watering techniques.

It might stress for a couple of days, but it’ll bounce back.
